Gingerbread Men-Yum!

I found these cute gingerbread men here.  http://www.elsiemarley.com/mutant-gingerbreadmen.html
So not having the right supplies at hand, I made one mock up, using fleece instead of felt, and having no mini ric rac, I painted the trim on.  The nap on the fleece did not make for a smooth painting surface.  I also neglected to sew in a tab to hang him with.  But then yesterday I went to get some felt and mini ric rac and made a few more.  They are adorable, but tendious!
I thought they were so cute with the bites taken out of them.  That look of surprise on their face.  That first mock up I did before I had the right supplies, is on the far right side.
The ric rac is painted on, and there is no tab sewn in to hang him with.  Also, if you make these, look for buttons with 4 holes as opposed to 2.  When sewing the white floss to the outside to make it look like candy, it makes a much more symmetrical look.  Plus the 2 hole tend to be larger buttons, and although I like the look, it is much harder to make the outline of the seam on your gingerbread boy with the bigger buttons in the way.  These were fun to do, but as I said, they were time consuming.
I have also been making crocheted Santa's for gift tags.
That one in the middle has a bit of wonky nose.  Oops.  Can you see those little elf shoes on the right?  Here is a better picture.
My niece Kaylen's Mom, Gwen made these last year.  I kept mine hanging on a tac in my sewing room on the bulletin board all year.  I thought they were so cute.  She hand sewed them, and each little toe is stuffed with cotton to hold the elfin shape.  I love them.
Off to make breakfast for the lil' nipper, and then to The Stitch n Bitch for hooky and lunch while nipper is in school.  Have a GREAT day!

I have seen those gingy breads before...they are cuties.

I would like to know where you got the pattern for the Santas, because I L-O-V-E them.

So cute Kris!! What a neat idea to make them look eaten too.

Love the litle shoes. My mom made all her babies felt shoes/booties when we were babies to keep our feet warm and they looked very similar to those. Adorable!

Okay... I can't tell if my other comment will eventually show up and then I'll look foolish, but Blogger said it didn't work so I'll try again!

Those gingerbread men are beyond adorable - they might be my new favorite Christmas decoration!
