Crop Circles?

When I let Ducey outside early this morning for a piddle, his, not mine......I discovered a crop circle in my backyard!!!
Well......I suppose it could have been made by this snapset pool I left on the lawn for over a week.
When my kids were little, I used to put one of these pools right onto the concrete patio over an old comforter for some cushion on the bottom.  I keep them filled and set up for a good week or more, adding a few splashes of liquid chlorine every day.  I use a pool net to skim off the grass and bugs that find their way into the water at night.  This works amazingly well.  Just ask my daughter Gennifer, who has been using her snapset now for several weeks.  If you get to steal away an hour or so alone, without the little kiddies splashing away at you, you can even float on a full size raft in this pool.  Hey Holly, maybe you need one of these pools for your Arizona summer?
We switch back and forth between the built in pool and the little one.  The big one, I have to get in with them. But the little one, I can sit on the sidelines, or...right in it too, like I  usually find myself doing.
We have been planning our dinners based on whatever I harvest from the garden that particular day.  The tomatoes are coming now by the dozens.  Last night we had our first corn on the cob.  Mr. G grilled it right in the husk.  I cleaned the silks off first and gave it a good washing and then just pulled the silks right back up over the tops.  Works great.
Our favorite thing to do with the squash is still to slice it in half and drizzle with olive oil, then salt and pepper, and grill it face down til just barely tender.  I did discover an ancient recipe (was given to me at one of my bridal showers, 32 years ago, by an old friend) in my little metal recipe box  called zucchini casserole that I am going to try this week.  It is not your typical casserole loaded with calories, but more on the healthy side.  Made with raw sunflower seeds and other yummy things!  If it is good, I will be sharing it for all of you gardeners with zucchini coming out of your ears!!
Gennifer cut my hair this morning.  Nice and short.  I feel like I lost 10 pounds!  Oh, and those 12 pounds I thought I had kept off....LIAR....I weighed myself this morning, and it is now 10!!!!  Oopsie!  I am pretty sure it is that darned banana nut bread!  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.  Or it's sticking to me!!!
To all of my new followers and visitors, welcome.  I am anxious to get around to each one of you and visit your blogs too!
Have a great rest of your day.

Hi Kris, Loved seeing your bounty-I will have to try the squash like this-we usually just slice it and brush it with EVOO too. Have a great week.

LOL crop circles.. you are too funny!! But that is a great idea about the pool on the patio with something cushy under it. I need to remember that!

Oh those veggies look yummy! That is the only thing I wold like about a warmer longer summer - the fresh produce comes earlier and lasts longer!!

Both hubby and I grew up on piles of summer squash simply steamed and he prefers it that way but I love it roasted so I bet I would love it grilled! I am going to try that soon.

Enjoy your floating! HUGS!!

I'm going to have to grill me some squash. That sounds delish. Oh, and your Banana bread recipe is calling my name. I have some over-ripe bananas that need to be used. Maybe tonight is the night. (Although I have been cutting calories and exercising more and it's paying off...this may not be a good time for banana bread.)

I actually did see lots of crop circles when we were flying to San Francisco last month. They were in very rural and uninhabited areas. I didn't say a word lest the men in white coats would be call to take me away upon landing!!

Your tomatoes look delicious. We have no homegrown ones around here yet.

Best,
Bonnie

I just read your last three posts. I don't know how I missed so many. The banana bread looks perfect, and those zucchini boats look yummy too. The veggies of summer are so delicious.

I got all teary at your post where you mentioned your dad. My daddy is 79 this year and I love him so much. I can't imagine life without him, although I don't visit near as much as I should and he's only a few miles away. For shame.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading! Hugs.

I am green with envy over the lovely produce you are getting out of your garden. Of course, I know that you would not be so rewarded if you had not given your garden loving care. I hope next spring, John and I will be recovered from our accident and able to put in a veggie garden. I really miss having fresh produce.

I will be watching for the zucchini casserole recipe.
Have a great week. Lura

Finally took a real quick second to visit and see I have missed lots so that means tonight I have to come and really browse (the zucchini boats look amazing). Just did a quick scan right now, would love to have that little pool, just the right size for me. Gee, two pounds, I did the same last week and I think I may have done that this week ...oh well, its gonna happen. Back to watching soon! Have a great day. See ya later.

I'm pretty certain that the circle is caused by aliens and not the pool. It has an alienish look to it. I've done the pool thing on the patio in the shade and the water is still too hot to cool off in. It's not good when the temps never go below 96 at night. I'm gaining weight. I kind of don't care. But I'm sure i will in September when I'm in your pool.

At least you lost two pounds of hair! We need a photo!
Mr. Doug set up a kiddie pool for us a couple of summers ago on the deck and he put insulation underneath...but it was too close to the woods and never did get warm enough for us. Now we set Chelsea's kiddie pool out in the sun and get crop circles, too.

My kids loved those little pools when they were smaller, now they like running through the sprinkler. Look at all your garden bounty! Looking forward to seeing the zucchini casserole.

It's so hot here I'm about ready to go out & get one of those pools for me! We have a spot in our yard where the grass is completely dead because of the heat so we wouldn't get any crop circles. LOL!
Exciting to see your harvest coming in. We've had some tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce & basil but in a couple of days we're going to have a gazillion tomatoes & peppers that we're planning on making salsa with.
