Hump Day

Today, for the first time in 13 days, I feel better.  No more pain when I breathe.  So I guess I have averted the dreaded bronchitis this time.  Thanks to my friend Dawn and her herbal remedies!!  I am spending the week slowly putting my Fall decor away, and cleaning in preparation for Christmas decor.
Today I am enjoying two of my favorite things about this time of year.  Panettone, and Little Cutie Tangerines!
Panettone will forever remind me of my good friend Armenia!  It was with her that I had this wonderful treat for the first time.  Typically an Italian sweet bread, but many other cultures enjoy this tasty pan dulce too.  My friend Armenia is Peruvian.  She says that they have always had this at Christmas time as well.
This bread is not only a tasty treat, but it reminds me of my friend Armenia, and also my sister in law Cecilia.  Cecilia was married to my little brother Tim.  We met Ceci through my friend Armenia.  Cecilia lives in Colorado now, and we miss her very much.  Armenia and I don't get to get together nearly as often as we used to with her working full time now and me taking care of my grandson, but she is my forever friend.  I think of her every time I bite into my Panettone!!!
I made this pillow for my daughter's new place.  Her sofa is sort of a camel color.  She wanted to add animal print accents.  I told her to go find two pillows the size and shape she wanted at Good Will.  Which she did.  We cleaned them, and then instead of using pillow forms, I use the actual pillow as the form.  I made the first pillow and soon realized that the fabric she bought would not make the second one too.  I went this past weekend to Joann's where she bought it, and they are out!  I did buy two big funky wooden buttons to use to tuft the pillows.   I LOVE the way it turned out.
In fact, I think it looks pretty good on my leather sofa too!!!  I sure hope they get more of this leopard print suedecloth in soon so I can finish her pillows for her.
I think that big button makes it!
I have been very busy in my sewing room lately.  I will post some pics soon.   I need to run now.  I taught Noah how to play Jenga this morning and he wants to beat Gamma again!!!

YAY I get to be first commenter! I'm so happy you feel better! I have a jacket in that very same leopard print. I wear it with black pants and a black shell. I could sit on your black sofa and be an accessory. I have two little tangerines on my desk as I write this. LOVE the orange fragrance! YUM.

So, glad to hear you are feeling better. With both you and Pammy pretty much out of commission for a week. I was kind of lost there for a moment. Welcome back. Please, please take it slowly. I thought I was until I opened that first box this morning. Everything just started to pop out. Thank goodness I had spent two days cleaning first. Fun pillow by the way.

You know what Jenga Rocks....Go Noah, great for hand eye coordination.

Kris, you're such a good mom. Love the pillow -- so glad you're doing better. That must have been one heckuva bad flu. I used to get bronchitis every time I got a cold... but now I take Singulair when I have a cold and it keeps my lungs in shape. You should get some.

So are you going to reveal these herbal remedies to us so we can benefit from them too? I'll try anything to help this crap get out of me.

Very nice pillow!

So glad you're finally feeling better. It probably took so long because you never slow down! You are one busy lady! The pillow looks great on your sofa! Curious how you clean used pillows?

Hi Kris, I see mixes for this sweet bread at T.J Maxx and have been tempted to buy one. I've heard they're good. I have never tasted any before so I knew I wouldn't know how to judge. Do you make yours from scratch? I love clementines also. So sweet and juicy. The pillow turned out so cute. I bet your daughter will love it. Glad your feeling better!

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. It's so hard to get well in the winter! LOVE that bread. I've had it a few times, and it's so good. Love those little tangerines too. They are one of my favorite things about this time of year. Enjoy your day! Sorry I missed this post. I've been a little stressed this week with Boyd. Today is good though, and we are expecting snow on Monday....which is rare in Texas. For some reason, that has gotten me all excited. :)
