More Decking The Halls

Good morning.   First I want to say thank you for all of your nice comments!  And I also want to say hello to new followers.  I always try to go visit you when I see a new follower, but sometimes it is hard to see who is newly following, as the list toggles back and forth from current to past, and jumbles itself all up.  But I love seeing all of your new faces, and it brings me to your blog, which I may have not otherwise found.  So welcome to all of you!!!  Let's see some more of my Country Christmas.
Come on in.
I don't think I will ever tire of these pine swags on my front door.  I especially love them on my barn red doors!!
Two years ago at the after Christmas sale at Tai Pan, I bought this tall skinny tree.  We have a smallish living room, and our big tree made it rather uncomfortable on Christmas morning with all the people, and all the gifts...we were really squished in there.  So this tall and skinny tree is absolutely perfect for the space.
In this picture it looks like it has a bit of a list?  My assistant has done quite a bit of redecorating.  I finally just let it be.
The tree skirt I made about 10 years ago.  It was quite an undertaking!  It was supposed to be hand blanket stitched, all the way around.  But after doing the reindeer and the front trees and banner, I gave up and machine stitched the inverted triangles on.  I got so overwhelmed that I never even embroidered the marked "Merry Christmas" on the front banner.  I still like it.
The reindeer go prancing all the way around the skirt.  Rudolph is my favorite.

The tree is so pretty lit up, like all trees are, no matter what the shape or size!  Those sweet little elfin slippers were made by my nephew's wife's mother, Gwen.  I LOVE them!!!  Thank you Gwen!
Do you have an Elf On Your Shelf?  In your tree?  We do.  His name is Billy. But we call him Silly Billy.

The tree topper is a simply a bow I made with giant coppery wire ribbon.  I have two other boxes of ornaments that I haven't even opened in the past few years.  I just use these giant glass red and green balls my Mom gave me, and nests and birds, and just a few other ornaments.  I have one box with just mouse ornaments from my parents, but I still find it hard to take those out.  Maybe next year.
Last night I was sitting in this chair that I am sitting in now, next to the tree in the living room. It was kind of late, about 10:00 or so.  I was crocheting away, and glanced up to look at the tree.  I was struck at how beautiful it was with the reflection of the lights in the window, and the faint vision of our house lights shining back in at me.  I had to grab my camera and click a photo.
My living room is the only room in the house that has a more traditional feel to it.  But I am thinking of changing that this year.   More about that later.  This beautiful church was a gift from my Mom.
Several years ago, I got those two candle toppers for my tapers.  I have no idea why on earth I didn't get three?  I always put three candle sticks together.  I have never been able to find another one.  But I still put the two I bought on the candles.
This garland I bought a few years ago in a beautiful shop in Big Bear.  I like to keep it up all winter long.  It looks so real.
That's it for today.  Mr. G is cooking fresh egg sandwiches, and I think mine is ready!!!  Have a great weekend.  Tomorrow I will wrap it up with My Country Christmas.

Three cheers for the tall skinny tree! I had a not so tall skinny tree for a number of years and have added a taller version to the mix ( 6 and 8 1/2') I just love that I can decorate without having to move furniture. *s*

Kris.. love visiting with you in your warm and cozy home. I am thinking you need three new candle rings :-) -- you've got me curious about what you plan to do in the livingroom.. a country makeover? We are having leftover mashed potatoes and gravy from our dinner party last night.

You're right, that photo you took from your chair is gorgeous! The lights and decor for the season transition the entire world into such quiet beauty...just sparkling with magic! In the photo with the elfin slippers, there is a crocheted Santa ornament. Did you make that? I have one of those that my mother-in-law bought for me one year. I'm dying to make one (or more) but haven't been able to puzzle out the pattern just by looking at it. Do you have the pattern or know where you got it (if you made it, that is)?

Kris, your tree really does look so pretty. I just love to sit by our tree with the lights on and reflect. Speaking of reflect, love the reflection picture. My hubby likes cooking us eggs for an egg on toast sandwich every now and then.
Happy Holidays!

I adore that little church you said your mom gave to you. That is so pretty, and one of my favorite things that you have shown. LOVE IT!

BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing. Your home is much nicer than mine. I always say ours is something like being on the farm and being at summer camp. :-)
LOVE your red doors! Your skinny tree is perfect!
