Breaking News....Wallpaper-GONE!

Yes, that's right.  The wallpaper is gone!  So is all feeling in my right arm!!!!  I reluctantly drug my grumpy self into the play room yesterday at about 2:00 to gettir done!!  I had my spray bottle with fabric softener diluted with hot water, a piping hot steam iron, rags, razor blades, extra water, a diet soda, and the telly turned onto the only thing I could find, The Hallmark Channel.  Two and half movies, and five hours later, the paper was gone.
Several years ago when we had our copper repipe done, they had to cut several hole in the walls to access plumbing.  These spots on the wall will have to be retextured before I paint.  I also have to have the entire laundry room retextured before I can paint that room.  I was half way considering doing those two small areas myself so that I can get this room done while I am on a roll.  I YouTubed lots of videos and think I can do it.
There is this one spot in the corner of the room, where I could not get that paper to budge.  I held the steam iron to it, I sprayed, I cursed a little, I scraped, I cried, and nothing.  I am going to sand it off.  The armoire hides it, so at this point, I don't care!
Most of this wallpaper came off in pieces this size!
I kid you NOT!  It was a nightmare!   After I resume feeling in my hands and limbs, and the burns from the iron heal, I will go on to the next step.  But today, I don't want to think about it.
The other day while I was at my favorite Vintage & Thrift, I found this red tray with flowers on it.
I think I will put a plate hanger on it and hang it in my sewing room, right here above my aqua mailbox.
I was looking for a few of my Valentiney things to put out today.  I have a darling red shaped pillow that I cannot find anywhere.  This is a heart shaped mug rug I made several years ago when I was teaching myself how to make chenille.
I love all of the reds on my aqua bench.
More hearts.
I love this rustic tin heart.  And next to it a a favorite photo of mine.  We had family pictures taken down at the beach for my Mom last year.  We wrote my Dad's name in the sand, and all gathered around it, then blew a kiss heavenward.  The photographer took our picture from the pier.  I get chills every time I look at it.
Puffy pink and red hearts in an aqua antique ball jar sitting in my kitchen window sill.
I am loving our much cooler weather.  And we had beautiful rain all night last night.  Much better weather for January!
Hope you all have a nice day today!
XO  Kris

My son and daughter-in-love are closing on their first home this week. It is a charmer--except for quite a bit of wallpaper that needs to come down. Alas, I'm too far away to help! = )

Best,
Bonnie

Hi Kris, So glad for you that your wallpaper is all gone. Boy oh boy what a job you had. I've never had that much trouble removing it. I can't believe Valentine's Day is 4 weeks away; where are the days going? Loved all your photos. Hey can you please keep your rain; you sent the storm to us and now we have snow coming-I really don't want it.
Have a great evening.

I was thinking about sneaking down to california and wallpapering your bedroom while you're on vacation. What do you think about that? So sorry you had to do all of that, what a mess! You, once again, are my hero. Love the pic of your family. Get some rest!

Finally...I bet you are ready to die!!!! You can get a small tub of mud (sheetrock) and take a plastic bag and dip it in the mud and then stamp it in those untextured areas. Then knock it down with a putty knife to match the texture already there.

You can easily do a whole room like this with a roller and sheetrock mud (thin just a little), roll it and then knock it down with a wide putty knife. Keep a wet edge over the area as you work. It's so easy. Have fun.

Love the family photo on the beach...it's really cool!

You are one determined woman! I had a professional wallpaper person come and remove the wallpaper in our family room as it frightened me! LOL! You are getting a jump on Valentines decor I see.. I love to decorate for the holidays.. I have a Valentine tablecloth that you would love. I'll put it on my table when I photograph my Val stuff so you can see it.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I know you are so relieved to be done with that wallpaper. What a job! Your fingertips even look red and raw in that picture. Ouch.

The picture of your family blowing a kiss toward heaven and your dad's name in the sand...that really choked me up. How beautiful.
