Easter Eve

Good morning!  We are right on schedule with our Easter preparations here.  And that is because, and ONLY because my wonderful son in law Jake came over yesterday afternoon to help me move that pile of dirt we had delivered to the yard.  He arrived yesterday afternoon with the girls, extra shovels, and their dog Abbey.   I put some shorts on Noah, gloves and a hat on me, and away we went.

Even though I paused to get some pictures, I was loading up those wheelbarrows and hauling it right along with Jake.  We leveled the slope on the side of the house to later use for a trash can area.  We will build an enclosure as soon as we can.
We worked hard, and knocked it out in about an hour and a half.
These kids are hard workers!!  They seriously helped us a ton!  Abbey, not so much.  She just spent the time eating and hiding avocados!!

The side area next to the garage is now level, and soon we will build an enclosure so that the cans are not visible.
Thank you Jake!!! What a tremendous help he is to us!  He is always willing to come and lend a hand when there is a job to be done!  This saved us a precious half of a day to get the rest done that we need to do before tomorrow.  We will be losing half of today because we have a special party to attend this afternoon.
Although there was a lot I didn't get finished that I wanted to, I did squeek out a new valance for the bathroom.  I bought the paint, but did not have time to get the bathroom painted.  I also have a new beautiful mirror to replace the stock mirror that has been in the kids bathroom since we have lived here.  Now, the kids are all gone, and it is time to update.  I am bringing a pretty blue into this bathroom.
The new paint color is Caribbean Sand.  I bought new towels to freshen it up in there too.  Maybe next week I will paint.  Or not.   When I bought the fabric for the bathroom curtain a while ago, I also bought this buttercup yellow for some new pillows for the family room.  I did manage to knock those out real quick yesterday too.  I love the softer colors in there for Spring.  It really brightens things up.
Last night I began to set out the table where we will have our buffet of foods set up.  I always write out a menu, and then place the bowls and platters out with a note for what goes where.  It saves so much time on the day of, to do this before hand and I don't have to search for serving pieces, etc.
The stack of plates and silverware won't be on that table tomorrow.  I was just getting everything out.  Yes, we are having quite a few for dinner!
I love those carrot serving pieces!!
We always do a guessing game.  The number is safely sealed underneath the lid, along with a prize.
We have another game planned, but I won't tell you about that until later.  It needs pictures to go along with it.  It looks like we will be having perfect weather!  Mid 80's and sunny!  Thank heavens.  We will have nearly 30 here, and we will be eating outside.
The eggs are boiled for deviled eggs.  I will be cooking late tonight, and early tomorrow.
Geeps and I are about to head out and do Sam's and Grocery store, and then a quick stop at the Farmer's Market, and Home Depot.
Here's wishing all of you a wonderful Easter with your loved ones!!!!!
XO  Kris

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who sets up the eating area a day or so ahead of time, my husband has always thought I was crazy ;)
Love the decor around it too and it gave me some ideas for our table, thanks.
Love the new curtains and pillows you made. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter!

Wow you really did get a lot done. I over do it too and last night broke down and rubbed some of Dean's Ben Gay on my knees. That makes me feel old. Thank God for the vanishing scent kind now. I am still off to the store too. Have a wonderful Easter with your family. Ours will be smaller about 15.

Hi Kris, Happy Easter to you. I loved seeing all your Easter decorations-so cute!!!! I have to run to the store to get some Easter cards and I might just do the jelly bean guessing game as well. Hope you have a wonderful time with your family. Our menu is much simpler but it is just lunch.

I wish you could bottle your brand of energy and sell it, I'd like to order a case of it! I hope you share some photos of your Easter party! We've been invited to our son's house for a BBQ - I just need to get some fun stuff to take for the grandsons. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

That was a big job right before a big holiday - I know it feels good to be done!!

Along with making some dishes today, I am also getting my buffet table ready too. I need all the room I can get so it doesn't look as pretty as yours though with the tablescape. For some reason this house always shrinks whenever we have a big meal with the family!

Have fun at your special party today and have a blessed Easter tomorrow my long distance friend!! Warm hugs!!!!!!

Your menu looks devine! I love Honey Baked ham. Seeing your eggs and mention of deviled eggs made me hungry for some. I guess I'll have to make them. Have a wonderful Easter dinner and family time!

Speaking of boiled eggs...have you trying BAKING your eggs instead of boiling them? I tried that method that was on Pinterest, and it works great! I don't boil eggs EVER anymore. They've never failed to peel perfectly. Try it next time and let me know what you think. *Place your eggs directly in the oven on the rack, bake for 30 min. in a 325-degree oven, remove immediately to bowl of ice water, peel immediately.*

Just one question Kris...How did you turn the clock back to get the energy of a 20 year old? I get tired just reading all you accomplish. Let's get together after the holiday. Have a blessed Easter dear friend. Patty
