Flag Day

Hi everyone.  Today is Flag Day!     Mine is flying proudly!
My husband has been out of town this week.  No cooking for me.  This is what I had for dinner last night.
NO...don't be silly....I didn't JUST have donuts!!   I rounded it out with some frozen yogurt from Golden Spoon too!!  Topped with carob chips, my favorite!!  I hear those are higher in calories than chocolate chips.  Figures!
This morning I switched it up and had something a little bit different for breakfast.
Yep...chocolate donuts!!!   OH STOP it.....I had some yogurt too!!!
Ducey has been sitting here by the window all week, waiting for her Daddy to appear.
She is gonna go tail waggin' nuts when he gets home tonight!!!
People give me chickeny things all the time.  I thought this felted pencil was a riot!
I have gotten some questions about the white spots on my skin that some of you have noticed in photos.  I have a skin condition called vitiligo.  My Dad had it.  He got it at about age 50.  Same time I began to notice that my dark skin was losing pigment.  It began in symmetrical patches on my wrists and both hands.  Now, only a couple years later, it is everywhere.  Feet, knees, elbows, hands, wrists, upper arms, torso.  I do see a dermatologist for it.  But nothing has worked to slow it down.  It can't be stopped, only slowed, if lucky.  Fortunately, it is not harmful, just unsightly.  And it is extremely sensitive to sun!!!   Which is hard, because I am a sun loving gal, and love to be outside.
My garden is beginning to produce lots of yummy things.  The tomatoes are coming in nicely!!!!  I did cherry tomatoes for the first time this year, and I find myself gobbling those up while I am outside watering the garden!
I have really been missing my programs that I loved to watch on the telly.  But alas....I have two words for you!  DUCK DYNASTY!!!
Oh my gosh.....the best thing I have seen on TV since Downton Abbey!!!!!   It is on A&E and I LOVE IT!!    Strangely enough, in many ways, it reminds me of my family that I grew up in!!!  I am not going to say any more.  Judge for yourself!!
Have a great day!
XO  Kris

Those are the best dang donuts, aren't they? We always buy them when we go camping. I like the powdered and Brian likes the chocolate. We always have fruit and donuts the first morning and then bacon and eggs the second morning. I just realized what a strange tradition that is.

I love those chocolate donuts! Your tomatoes look scrumptious - they almost look too pretty to eat! I cannot wait for Downton Abbey. I started watching it on your recommendation. Have a great day. We are expecting 112 next week in Phoenix. Boo!!

Seriously Kris, tell me you really didn't eat donuts for dinner and breakfast. Lucky I'm not closer, I would have come over and replaced them with something healthy. Oh well, when the cats away the mice will play. I haven't seen Duck Dynasty but so ready for A&E shows to start-like Covert Affairs and White Collar. So tired of reruns. Ducey looks so darn cute! Hunter still barks at my hubby when he comes in from being away. LOL.
Hope you have a splendid day my friend.
Hugs, Noreen

Wow-- your tomatoes looks so good! I will ahve to wait a long tme till mine are red like that, Kris. My duaghter has a small patch of vitiligo on one of her feet -- she developed it as a baby but so far it hasnt's happened anywhere else. I have the opposite problem -- I am sprouting brown sun damage spots called solar lentigenes on my face and hands--they look like large ugly freckles. I can cover them up with makeup on my face but not my hands, so I just learn to accept it and stay out of the sun or wear sun block as much as I can. The fun of aging! lol!

Now, that's my kind of breakfast. I get an eye roll from the Scooter when he walks in and see a pack on the counter. I usually have to hid mine to escape the wrath. And that's just what we have going on here.... Grapes of Wrath Dust Bowl. Especially with the main drag all torn up under construction to the market area. What a pain to even just go mail a letter these days.

What were we thinking covering ourselves with iodine and baby oil in the sun. I can't tell you how many new spots I'm seeing on my face this summer. But the way I look at it. Scott will still come home and want his dinner at 6pm sharp.... so who cares right?

Well, time to go and drag another hose. I swear I'm moving the water system up on my bucket list. But, then what would Bobbie and I bitch about every afternoon... oh, that's right ever OTHER afternoon. Watering Laws not to be broken.

Toodles for now, Kate

P.S. I'm going to try to be better.

Your tomatoes look delicious!! Hubby and I both loved Downton Abbey which we watched after you mentioned it here on your blog, and we LOVED it. Soo if you say this show is good, will be tuning in. Thanks for the tip. Isn't the weather nice today? Soo pretty. Did you feel the earthquake. Centered in Yorba Linda it was practically on top of of us, haha.

I love how you are eating, it is so freeing when they are not home sometimes isn't it? Thanks for your insightful comments on my blog today. I am so mad at my son I can not even speak, and for me that is something!
Sending you a big hug,
Meredith

Hi Kris, I am home! I spent some time scrolling down your posts while I was gone and enjoying all your stories and photos. You have such a genuinely sweet and good personality that just shines through. I love how close your family is. I just got home from volunteering at Multnomah Falls and am relaxing and reading blogs and listening to hubby ride his mower around - his favorite thing. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Sadly, that is my kind of dinner quite often. I don't mean for it to be but when I get home from work, I grab a snack and before I know it, I'm not hungry for dinner because I ate a bag of donuts or something equally fattening.

I think I told you that I have vitaligo also. I am not out in the sun too much so mine is't as noticeable but any time I begin to get some color on myself, my spots really stand out.

Hey Kris, I just had to tell my hubyy and recuperating daughter that you mentioned Duck Dynasty. The three of us watched about a zillion episodes last weekend and laughed till our side ached. Let's just say, we are now Duck addicts. lol! I can't wait till I have juicy tomatoes. The garden is doing great, but too early. I usually plant a cherry, grap, or pear tomatoe and do the same gobble thing. Did not get one this year and I know I am going to miss gobbling in the garden. I may just have to gobble on a big one. I have known people that have that same condition. I know that you don't love it, but girl your still cute so don't let it bother you. None of us are perfect that's for sure. Hope hubby gets home soon because that poor pooch makes me want to cry.
Hugs,
Jann

Wow look at all those pretty tomatoes you have! I harvested three snap peas last night while watering, so I ate them. :)
Our cucumber plant is getting really big but no cucs on it yet.

I have heard of duck dynasty. isn't it about a family who hunts ducks? no?

We flew our flags yesterday as well. Seeing them fly makes my heart so proud. I don't blame you for having those yummy donuts. Sometimes I sneak some when I buy groceries, and I don't tell Kevin. :)
I must tune into Duck Dynasty now. One of my best friends also mentioned it to me.

ps.
Your last comment was sweet on my blog. I did have my hair down and took a picture in May when we went to a wedding, and it's on my blog, although it's hard to see. I will try to snap one for you. :)) My hair is so thick and heavy that I have worn it up for so long, and I don't even think about it anymore. That's awful, I know. :))

My favorite "meal" when my husband is out of town is pizza, ice cream and popcorn..in bed after the boys are to sleep. Thank God he's not gone too often!

Kris, I love how you share yourself through your comments and photos, and your meal choices in this post inspired me to LOL. We don't have cable so now I am going to go Google Duck Dynasty to get educated. :)
Joy to you and yours!

Hi Kris, Donuts for dinner. I love it! Isn't it funny what we eat when are husband's are out of town? Your tomatoes look wonderful. I am just starting to get some. I almost lost my garden when I was out of town for 3 weeks. I think the squirrels and rabbits thought it was a buffet. My chickens are doing great, I get almost a dozen eggs a day and I am always trying to give them away.
I need to catch up on your blog.
Hugs, Ann

Donuts for dinner....those are my kind of eating habits when I am alone! I've never heard of Duck Dynasty. I did just see where there is going to be a Dynasty reunion.
