TA-DAAAA!!!!

I have finished my colorful bobble blanket, using all 17 skeins of my yarn from England.  I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed doing this afghan!  From the first stitch, I was in love.  Craving scones and tea, the whole while I worked on it.  Dreaming of visiting this country that I have so loved to read about.  And because my friend Kate names her blankets, each and every one of them, I decided that I should too.  My first one was made for my Mom.  Mountain Mama is what I named that blanket.  It was made in the colors of our much loved Big Bear Mountains.  And I thought she would keep it in her cabin.  But she has chosen to keep it at her house so that she can use it more often.
And this bobble, with the British yarn.....that I worked on, and nearly finished as I was watching the Queen's Jubilee celebration, has been aptly named.  I am calling it JUBILEE!!

Greg took these two pictures tonight when he got home, just as I had finished it.  He wanted to take one with me looking at the camera, and I said that I looked a fright after having been sick all week, so I had to hide a bit.
No makeup, hair in a clip, old sloppy clothes on.  NOT PRETTY!  And Kate, I do believe both of these photos were in my mind because I have seen you show a Ta Daa or two this way?
Back to the Jubilee Afghan.....I LOVE it.  ADORE it!  I can't possibly part with it.  I don't have a single thing in my house that it will go with.  I love these colors, but the only ones even remotely like them, are in my sewing room.  So this is where Jubilee will reside.
I rolled her up like a bolster.
And then admired the ruffled edge, that looked like an unfurling rose.
Then I tried her out on my new wicker set.
I used nearly all of the 17 skeins of yarn from England.  But I didn't  have enough to do what I wanted to do for the border.  So first, still using the yarn I had, I made one row of single crochet in one color, then one row of single crochet in another color.  Then I did one row of double crochet, and then another row of double crochet.  But I wanted a nice flouncy ruffle for the edge, and I knew that would be a yarn eater.  So I found some that I liked in almost the exact shade of turquoise at Michael's.  It is Vanna yarn, in a worsted weight.  So it is a bit heavier than the rest of the yarn.  I crocheted 4 double crochets in between each double crochet for the flirty ruffle on the very edge.  I purchased two skeins, and wound up running out about 4 inches from being done.  Grrrrr!  So, in my ratty clothes, no makeup and all, I snuck back into Michael's this afternoon and bought one last skein to finish her up.
She is done.  Jubilee is mine...all mine!  She is the softest, squishiest, cuddliest blanket ever!
Aside from being thrilled with this afghan, I am also very happy to report that today was a turnaround day for me.  I noticed a substantial improvement in the way I feel!!!  I thought I was going to be headed back to the Dr. tomorrow.  But I think I have turned the corner, and am kicking this awful bug once and for all!!!!
I am off to bed, but I HAD to share my Jubilee!!!!!
XO  Kris

Kris, she is beautiful and so aptly named!!! She will continue to bring you much joy wherever you cuddle her I am sure. What a great reminder of where the yarn came from and the year in which you completed her!
My Lucy pack of yarn arrived yesterday and I am still dreaming of what pattern I most want.
I'm so glad you are feeling better!!!

Kris, First of all I am glad you are finally feeling a bit better. Those summer illnesses can really wipe you out. And I bet you are exhausted from all the Jubilee celebrations. It is absolutely gorgeous, the colors, the bobbles the border are all perfect. I bet you want to dance and sing about the sheer gorgeousness of it, but take some time to rest, you can continue the celebration as long as you want.
Hugs to you, from a distance of course because I don't want to get sick.

Happy Friday Kris, Love your Jubilee, so bright and cherry. You looked so darn skinny wrapped in your blanket, my legs haven't been that skinny since high school. Have a great weekend and I hope you're feeling back to normal.

The blanket is beautiful, my favorite looks was on the outside wicker settee, it looks like it goes with the rug. So glad you are feeling better, it seems like that took a long time:)
