HOT!!!

Good morning!  I want to thank all of you for your encouraging words and comments on my last post.  When I read my Mom's I started blubbering all over again.   I think all mothers understand a mother's heart.
We have had a crazy hot weekend, complete with wild weather!!!

On Saturday, we did things around the house.  Getting in and out of the pool as often as necessary to cool off.  Greg had  just finished cleaning the pool, and I had just put two loads of laundry out on the line, when the black clouds began to move overhead.  The tv kept issuing these warnings, and before we knew it, the wind was whipping, and we could hear loud claps of thunder!
It wasn't but a few minutes before the pool that was just cleaned was filled with leaves!  We had to run around and close all of the umbrellas.
And then we took cover inside the house.  But then I realized I had a clothesline full of clothes.  So Greg ran out there with me, and just before it began to rain, we cleared the line.  All the while, thunder and lightening were putting on a show.
The weather this past week has been extremely hot and muggy.   This morning, I heard the AC click on at 7:00 AM!  So it is going to be another miserable day!
Yesterday Geeps wanted to go up to the lake.  He was leaving very early in the morning and Gennifer and the kids and I were going to go up later.  But Genny decided not to go, and I wasn't really sure I wanted to drive up there alone with all of the crazy storms we were having.  So I stayed home.  Erika and Noah were gone all day, and I sat on the sofa in the cool AC doing nothing.  All.  Day.  Long.  Well, I did do some laundry, and I did clean our bathroom.  But other than that....I sat, and knitted.
I am trying to get  a jump on Christmas gifts.  Last year, I gave all of my neighbors hand made dish cloths with pretty soaps.
About midday, I got a hankering for some banana nut bread.  I had some overripe bananas to use, so I turned the oven on, and  made some.
I put a handful of chocolate chips in there too.  My recipe is from an old neighbor of ours when I was growing up, who used to make the best banana bread ever!  She would pour melted butter over the top after each loaf came out of the oven.  I am telling you, this sends this over the top!!  If you type in banana nut bread on my blog search, you will find the recipe from a previous post.
I spoke to Greg on the phone a couple of times during the day to check on weather and fish report.  They had some wild storms and rain pass through up there too.  He and his buddy Ron were out on the lake fishing when the storm came.  He said that they heard thunder and were getting off the lake when all of a sudden, there was a lightening strike about 1,000 yards directly ahead of them on the  lake!!!    They got off fast!!
Today is going to be another hot and miserably muggy day.  I cannot put off cleaning this house a minute longer.  So heat or not, I am going to clean!!!!!
Have a good day!!!
XO Kris

Wow, when you get weather you really get weather! I don't mind a summer thunder storm but if it was that close to me....NOT!
Fabulous photo of the banana bread...I can almost smell it. Looks divine!

We are having a glorious night and day of rain--just rain, no storm, no wind. Lovely! And, it is cooler, much cooler.

I don't know how I missed your last post. I just read it and can so understand how you feel. We have two sons. One is on the west coast (S.F.) and the other in Rhode Island. After growing up with a large extended family in the same area, I just assumed my family would do the same. The boys are happy in their areas and jobs and life so that makes us happy. That said, I miss them terribly. I want them here for Sunday dinner and other family time. We do get to see them at least twice a year and we love their areas. On the plus side, Nashville is a nice place to visit! I wish your son great success. Let us know how things are going!!

Best,
Bonnie

Love the look of that banan bread. I also love that you said you sat in the cool a/c and did nothing then we hear about knitting, baking etc ...etc...what is with this woman!?! Seriously. It must be awful to live with that sort of weather....I mustn't grumble about our weather here in Wales!! Joan

There is just no escaping the heat! And no escaping the changes that life brings... kudos to your son for making such an adventurous move! The bright side: you get front row tickets to his first concert in Nashville!!!

Can't tell you how much I love those dish clothes. Both my mom and Diane make them. I am thinking I need to learn how to knit. : )

This weather is just soo horrid. I am about done with the heat. Have a good day and try and stay cool!

We are expecting thunder showers later today as well. It has cooled off though, finally. I went out Saturday and pulled weeds and have been paying for it all weekend long. Even motrin does not help. You have a wonderful blog. It is good to know someone else out there is doing laundry and cleaning their bathrooms besides me. I shouldn't laugh about your having to take in laundry off the line soon after you hung it out...been there too. I seem to have to do everything 2 times before it gets done. Now why is that??? I really need to blog about that. Thanks for the tip on the banana nut bread, I have a couple of bananas that need dealing with.
Have a great week.
Susanne :)

Oh yeah, dishcloths are fun little projects aren't they. I made a bunch up awhile back and just couldn't seem to stop. Love them!

Sometimes a good rainstorm puts a nice halt in our routine and allows us to relax a bit. We've had some cooler weather here lately, not sure if it is going to last or not (I certainly hope so!). Your dishcloths are very pretty and it sounds like a perfect gift with the soap. Take care and enjoy that banana bread! YUM! Heather

Must be our hot humid weather was sent your way. It is cool here now in the 60's. Crazy. Love the dish cloths and think of you every time I use mine. It was so cold here today I thought about starting on that quilt but didn't have the right batting:(

Oh I wish we would have got some of that. I love a thunder storm. Glad all is well and I want to bake too but have not wanted to turn the oven on. I am running out of meals to cook. We are so ready for home made pizza.

I keep looking at the extended forecast waiting for the cooler temps, but they just continue to add on more hot days!!! August is a bugger. I guess I missed that post about your son moving, but it made me tear up. My daughter is moving this weekend (only 2 1/2 hours away), but she has always been right here! We are all close like your family, and are really going to miss her. I feel your pain girlfriend! Hang in there!

I'm glad that you felt encouraged after your last post. I have thought of you so much, and pray that you are feeling a bit better, even though I know your heart is aching for Drew to not go.

Your banana nut bread looks so yummy, and I love the chocolate in it.

My mom makes those dish cloths too. I just love them. What a great idea to give them with cute little soaps. I will have to tell my mom that. You are so creative!

We had a wild storm come through here on Sunday night and tore a bunch of stuff up. The lightning was wild and it made me a bit nervous. I'm glad y'all are ok.

Kris, When I saw your weather warning I wondered if you lived here in Colorado-seriously a tornado warning? Glad you stayed home though. Hope you get more rain today; we've had cooler mornings and nights but today is supposed to get up to 95.
Such weird weather!!!!
Hugs, Noreen

Oh I think alot of us are in need of rain. I know that your temps are even hotter than here so I feel for you. The weather warning was a bit scary. Glad everything settled down. Pouring butter over the bread sounds heavenly. Can you tell I love butter? I made zuchinni bread yesterday. It's a recipe from my friend you frost it with a glaze. The glaze is the best part. Although I do love this recipe. It's kindof crunchy on the outside but so moist on the in.
Hugs,
Jann
p.s. You're in my prayers sweetie!

Morning girl...we have that kind og weather down here..so hot and hunid...you get soaked with sweat before you can even get the door shut behind you when you step outside and when the storms come up out of nowhere the winds snap trees like toothpicks..
I read in your last post about your son moving to Nashville..girl I know exactly what you are feeling..our oldest Burly Boy and his family moved to Montana a couple of months ago...I cried until my eyes were raw...we too are a close family with all 5 kids living around us and in contact on a daily basis...when they came to say their final goodbye I thought I would choke to death with the saddness in my heart..but they are doing good and they are just so happy and we all talk to them on the computer all the time and seeing his pics of just walking alittle ways from his place and seeing the amazing wildlife that he loves and hearing the sxcitement in his voice...I know all is well and he is living his dream..we will always walk the main road with our kids...always be there for them..but there are just some paths they have to walk alone...but they know our hearts and love go with them...thanks so much for coming by sweetie..hope you have a great week and cooler weather comes your way..Picket
