Self Grip Rollers

Hello there.  It's Monday again.  New week.  A little bit cooler.   At least the evenings are cooling off for us, and for that I am grateful!   In fact, I even cooked dinner tonight!  I love to cook.  But not when it is 100 plus degrees outside.  I am looking forward to making some nice Fall inspired meals.
Now, about those curlers I was talking about yesterday.  I love them.  They are so easy!   You just roll your hair, and it stays.  No clips, nothing.   I washed my  hair last night, and let it air dry.  This morning before I rolled it up, I just wet my hands a little and ran my fingers through my hair to dampen it a bit.
Then, once rolled, which took about 5 seconds, I held my blow dryer on lo heat over each roller for a minute or so.  No, not even that long, maybe 3 minutes total.
When I took the rollers out, my hair is full of body.  Noah wanted to help me take the picture.
My hair looks shorter curled, but I like it for something different.
Next time I will try using the smaller ones for more curl.  I mostly used the biggest ones, just for body.  I did use the small ones to curl the bottom and flip it up.
These are what they look like.
I got them at Walmart.  They were 8 dollars.  I have seen them at Target and Ulta and all over really.
Today when I went out to collect eggs, I found another one of Chicka's SUPER, DUPER, ENORMOUS eggs.  I know I have shown a picture before.  This was even bigger.  Her biggest  yet.  It fills the whole palm of my hand.  I just can't get over how big they are.
I have never seen a chicken's egg this large!!!   The pictures don't do it justice.  You have to hold it in your hand to compare.  It is freakish!
That's all I've got!
Nighty night.
XO  Kris

Hope you are having sweet dreams, Kris :). Your curlers are definitely a success! I think your hairstyle is 'cool' in spite of your HOT weather. And THE EGG is truly amazing! Thanks for posting! xxx from Gracie

It does make your hair look pretty, I knew it!

I havent seen those type of rollers, not that I have looked lol! I will next time though :)

That egg is gianormous, is it a double yoker I wonder? We sometimes get big eggs too, havent had any for a while though...

Sorry to freak you out about our rooster Kris. I just look at it as part of life, probably the farmgirl in me. Hubby does the horrible work, I just pack away and freeze...We hatch out chickens regularly and the last batch had four roosters that we couldn't find homes for. Originally we were going to use them for pet meat, but they were tender enough for us to eat :) I should have had more thought for the animal lovers...I love them too :(

Hi Kris, Your hair looks great! I have plans to get them but yesterday our heat was making a terrible sound that I could not stand, so I had to wait all day for the repair man. Oh well, sound's gone! That is one larrgggeeee egg, probably could feed a family of 4! Hope you have a wonderful day.

I can't believe how long your hair has gotten, it looks great. Glad to hear things are cooling off there. Have your new chickens been laying yet or are they still settling in?

I am not sure how I missed your previous post...sigh....I do try. Anyway, yes I LOVE those curlers. Believe it or not Mel had some in high school. Her hair was SUPER long, SUPER thick, SUPER wavey and curly, and SUPER hard to do. Sooo every once in a while she'd ask me to blow it out for her. And I would blow out a piece until it was almost dry and then roll it up with one of those wonderful curlers. Then I would go on to the next etc. Eventually (though it took forever it seemed) her hair would be all rolled up and she would get dressed and put on her make-up and 15 min or so later pull out all the curler (there were TONS of them it seemed) and she had the FULLEST just the right amount of curl hair you've ever seen. It was soo pretty. My hair was soooo short at that time I never used them. She took them with her of course when she married, but she told me the other day she never uses them anymore. Diane has a set too btw and loves them. Your hair looks really pretty long. It does really change your looks. Soo funny how a simple change does really change things.

Yes it is nice with the weather cooling off some at night huh? Much more bearable. However I just read it is going to be HOT again by Sun and Mon of next week..sigh. I am done I tell you, lol

Oh, and it is the biggest egg I have ever seen ever too! wow...

Wow! That is a big egg, are they double yolked? Maybe I'm showing my ignorance? :-) Your hair looks really cute, I'll have to look for the rollers and give them a try, I can always use a little lift and body in my hair. Have a wonderful day Kris. Heather

Double yoker? Maybe. I want to get those rollers. So just blow dry to heat? Cool. Sorry you are missing your daddy. I have waves like that and it just hits me. Hope you can make it to Shelly's house.

I was hoping you'd post a picture of your hair AFTER the rollers when you teased us with the before picture! It looks so cute! Maybe I ought to try getting up a little earlier so I don't wear so many pony tails to work..... :-)

I admire you for all the work you do to look gorgeous and you ARE a beautiful woman! Me.. I just twirl a few pieces of hair on each side of my head and use a hair clip on it and use a bigger barrette to hold the rest up in the back. One guy at a meeting the other day called it my "rooster tail". LOL! Do those huge eggs have 2 yolks in them? That's amazing, as those kinds of chickens usually lay smaller eggs! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Your hair looks really good, but you look so different to me for some reason! Did you get a nose job? Did you wax your eyebrows or get dentures or something? I wouldn't even recognize that picture as you. Is it just me? I'm not saying that as a bad thing. You look gorgeous as ever.

I'm having the family over on Saturday for a little celebration. I was going to make some of those tissue paper balls to hang, but I can't find your entry about how to do it. Do you know the link off the top of your head? If so, can you email it to me? Thank ya!

Love your hair! It's super cute! I have some of those curlers, they are great for adding volume and a bit of curl. I'm thinking about growing my hair out but I'm very impatient. Maybe I should start using the curlers again to make the process easier.
I'm just catching up on my blog reading. I loved your sunset pictures, they are gorgeous. I talk to my Mom and Jason every day. I sometimes feel like I hear them answer back. It's a huge comfort. I know, without a doubt, that your Dad is always with you.

Love and hugs,
Deb

I may have to give those rollers a try, especially in Kathleen's hair. We usually use the pink foam rollers to sleep in for curls because our hair is so fine. But those look a lot easier! I really like the soft waves in your hair, looks so lovely!

I do believe your chicken is going to become famous over the size of those eggs! LOL wow!

Have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Jill

What an adorable place you have here....I also have a chick, named Marmelade, that produces very large eggs...not as large as yours...but larger than normal :)>

Guess I am a bit late commenting on this post. I stopped by the other day and was having troubles with the comment box and my cursor, so looks like I will be making a trip to my pewter guy for a check-up....anyways, I bet the hen who laid the huge egg gave you a double yolk, and she cackled up a storm getting that one out, lol. Those curlers work well. They did a super job. Hope all is well.

Hi Kris, your hair looks cute like that, full of volume. Like your new shoes. Foot comfort is key to a good day! Hope this coming week's hot weather is the last hurrah until next year. Yes, that's a big egg! BTW, I don't think I wrote how much I like that family pic (header) on your blog. So fun! I'm attending the Viking Fest in Vista, this wknd. Trying to escape the heat a little. Loving your photos of fall. OXOX!

Your hair looks so pretty. I used the pink foam rollers when I was little, and I still remember it like it was yesterday. The colors of those eggs are beautiful. I love fresh eggs, and I would steal a few if I was your neighbor. :)

Your hair looks so pretty. And the pastel colors of the eggs are lovely. I know nothing about eggs. I enjoy reading about things like this!

I'm all about those curlers. I use the huge ones to get some big body to my otherwise wimpy hair!
