Weekend With Our Grand Girls

We had our two granddaughters here for a sleepover.  Mommy and Daddy had big plans for Saturday night, and then spent today at Glen Ivy.   The girls wanted to go swimming in the spa.  So I heated it up and we had fun splashing around on Saturday night together.  No camera with me that night. Geeps brought home pizza, and then we had our Scooby Doo movie, and the kids camped out on an air mattress in our spare room.
Don' look across the hall into my sewing room.  It is a mess right now!!
The girls woke up bright and early.  Like about 5:30 and still pitch black out!!  I heard them, and sent Geeps in to tell them it was still night time.  But I don't think they went back to sleep.  They were up and at em' an hour later!  Geeps took them to get donuts.
They were so cute,  they each shared their donut, so they could taste both of them!

That maple bar was Gamma's!!  Mmmmmm!!!
After breakfast, we got our sunscreen on and they went out to help Geeps wash Gamma's car.

We played with Maui, and rocked on the front porch swing.
I took the girls with me to the market.  We picked up some goodies, then came home and had lunch.  The girls went out back with me to feed some grapes to the chickens.

The chickies followed the girls right into the backyard.
They love to spend time with the hens.  I sure hope that my grandkids remember doing these things when they are older.
By this time, it was mighty hot, and Geeps said he would take the girls into the pool.  Claire was ready with her wings on!!!
I had a fan on and it was blowing her hair.  The pool has cooled off drastically because we have removed the solar cover.  No one has been swimming in a while.  Since school started actually, in August.
They didn't seem to mind the cool water at all.
I was sitting on the edge with them, but got hot and retreated to the patio.  The next pictures are taken through the mesh fence.  Geeps showed them his cannon ball.
He threw rings for them to dive for.
Soon it was time to get out and head back to their house for naps.  Hannah doesn't nap anymore, but she usually plays quietly in the play room for a bit while her sister naps.  I knew she would sleep today though, after getting up so early.  Sure enough, they were both asleep within minutes of arriving at their house.  I sat downstairs and crocheted, and watched recorded episodes of Househunters International.  Genny and Jake arrived back home about 5:00 and after a short visit, I headed back home.
We had a great time with the girls!!!!
We are supposed to have high temps tomorrow.  Up to 108 I hear.  Yuck!!!  I hope this is about the last of this heat.  Greg and I were sitting outside tonight and talking about how we barely even used our backyard this summer.  Only a couple of outdoor bbq's and dinners outside.  And not even a whole lot of swimming.  It was the hottest, ugliest summer I can ever recall!   I am dying to get my boots out!!!  I want to wear sweaters and sweatshirts!  I miss my jeans.  I want to slide my feet into my Uggs!!!   I want to have fire's roaring in the family room fireplace!  And I want to actually wrap up in a quilt or afghan, instead of just make them!!
XO  Kris

Your grandbabies are so beautiful, what a great day you guys had, sweet.
Whoa over here it was the dullest, most overcast summer for a long time, I'd have loved bit of yours :)

Those girls are adorable and they look like they were having so much fun. i am so missing Autumn, we don't get it here at all. It is my favorite season, the crisp air, leaves crunching, pumpkins and apple cider. Well I can do pumpkins and apple cider but it isn't really the same. Football games watched with the air conditioning on just are not the same either. Ah well, I guess I will be laughing come Feb, when I am in shorts and flip flops.
Hugs,
Meredith

How fun to have the girls all weekend. It looks like they enjoyed themselves. Emily was here on Saturday and was able to play with all of Andrews toys by herself (he was at his dads). She even snuck on his cowboy boots...we won't tell Andrew.lol I wish I had taken pictures. I am with you on this heat. Enuf already!

What a great post! I just tried leaving a comment and wasn't signed in so it didn't stick. Anyway, your time with the girls is much like when I have mine here. Such fun times! Love your yard and things, really looks inviting. xoc

They are so cute Kris. I saw Illy in there. She looks so much bigger in just the few weeks since she left here. They must be doing well. Yes so hot. I am trying not to complain about it. I painted all day yesterday so at least I got something done. Get some rest today. You had a busy weekend.

What a fun weekend! I'm glad I'm not there for those temps! Yuck! It's suppose to be in the 50's here by the end of the week. I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet. =)

Hi Kris,Your weekend sounds like mine from a week ago, except I had 4 girls. This nana gets mighty tired from four active girls. I can't believe you are still having such hot weather; we are actually having fall weather here. I've had a quilt out in the evening but I am not ready for the fireplace yet. Please, we will have snow here soon-not yet I hope. Have a great day today.
Hugs, Noreen

Love those sleep-overs with the little loves! Looks like you all had a great time.
I don't think I could handle your high temps! I melt in the high 90s, can't imagine 108 in October! We have finally cooled off here in Denver, beautiful fall weather!
Rest up from your weekend! ♥

Sounds like a great week-end to me...can't believe how big the girls are getting! Time is always marching on huh? I told Jeff the other night, "This has been the hottest September I can remember in quite a while!" It was just awful. Hopefully that is all about to change now that it is Oct.! I am with you, I am ready to snuggled up in an afghan!

They will remember Kris! My mother in law did wildlife rehab when our nieces were little and they're still talking about all of the critters their granny had and the things she let them do with her. The girls are lucky to have a Gamma like you!

So glad you had a good grand time this past weekend, Kris...even with the hot weather. We are starting into our third month of no significant rain up here which seems strange, but wonderful, too. Hey, Kris, I think you are COOL (: [Did that help? Hmmm, not so much, huh?] Ok, I'll just send you some more hugs from Gracie

You have a couple of sweeties there, and I'm sure they will always remember good, fun times at grandma's and grandpa's house. We have been blessed with cooler weather, only today it was raining and then gray and a misty rain the remainder of the day. We have had to turn on the furnace and pull out the jackets, oh but the grass is finally green, and my hubby swore he saw a snow flake, lol.

What great grandparents you two are! You bet they will remember these cherished times. And how could they ever forget that cannonball? lol! Girl, If I've said it once I've said it 1000 times. We are two peas in a pod. Maple bars are my favorite! I also have a pumpkin soup tureen almost identical. The girls are dolls and I too love having our grandies over for a night. Jordyn, my 11 year old gdaughter spent the night and helped with the yard sale. She danced out by the road with a sign all dressed up like a cowgirl. Her idea. It was so cute. Can't believe I missed getting a picture.
Hugs,
Jann
