Apple Picking

Saturday morning we decided spur of the moment to go up to Oak Glen and go apple picking.  It isn't often that we have a day where both of our girls and their kids can all do something together.  So we seized the moment.  We asked Drew and Diana to join us, but they both had to work.  We packed a picnic lunch, and off we went.  We had heard about a great pumpkin patch in Yucaipa, so our first stop was there.  This could have easily been an all day thing too, but we only stayed an hour or so.
I have never seen so many pumpkins before!  I would love to go back and spend more time here.  It is a great place to visit!
After going through the corn maze, and having a frozen strawberry lemonade, and dancing a jig.....
We were off to Oak Glen.
We always have a picnic on the grass at Rios Ranch first.  It was crowded, but we found a nice spot to spread our blankets out underneath the giant trees. We had our lunch, and relaxed a bit.  My girls are always saying I post unflattering photos of them.  In my opinion, there ARE no unflattering pictures of them!!  But I had to post this one at our picnic.  That's me, taking a big bite out of my delicious sandwich!!!   The older I get though, the less concerned I am with looking good in every photo.  I like the look on Jake's face here.  All of the different things you can see  that we feasted on.  The activity in the background.  I like it.
The kids ran around like crazy and had a great time!
Gennifer took this picture of her Dad and I.  I love it!
After lunch we went into the store and bought some of their wonderful apple cider, and a few other goodies.  Then we took our picnic baskets to the car and headed out across the road to go apple picking.
The kids really had fun.  And we enjoyed every minute of watching them, and being a part of it.
We took a trail that we had never taken before, when walking back to Rios Ranch.  It was beautiful!
We made one last stop before heading home, as we always do.  Because who can resist apple donuts dusted in cinnamon and sugar??
It was a perfect day!!!!!
I have my daughter Gennifer's recipe for crockpot applesauce going in the kitchen.  I can smell it way back here in the bedroom.
Be back tomorrow with a post from Big Bear.
XO  Kris

What a lovely day:) You are lucky you can pick apples. We have had such a shortage here they aren't allowing picking this year. Only workers can pick, i guess they don't want any waste. Tell Noah I love his new doo, very hip:)

It looks like you didn't have any fun at all. Not one ounce. KIDDING. As always I have enjoyed another adventure with your fabulous family.

Oh I haven't done that in ages! Not since Zach was wee...now he's almost 11 and says "Why would anyone want to pick their own apples?" Ugh.... I guess I'll have to wait for the newest nephew to be a little older so I can make him have fun with me :)

Sounds like a wonderful trip and what a beautiful day you had for your adventure. I can almost smell your applesauce now. :-) We made applesauce a couple of Fridays ago. It was nice and thick and dark pink and so good warm. Take care, Heather

What a fun day Kris. Love all the photos. Especially the one of you and hubs and of you chowing down. That's what we (I) do best. lol! My kids say the same things about my pics. Trying to figure out if we can find time to party with our family. We leave for Hawaii on the 25th.

What a wonderful Fall post. And, before I say any more...I agree...Your daughter is as pretty as a picture.
We picked apples in Julian and laughed, fell off the ladders and ate our way through the day. Such happy times.
Your grandkids are so very dear. I know you treasure them by your sweet comments. We have two little ones in Fontana and one on the way in San Diego.
Blessings to you and yours,
Carolynn
