Hearts Are Multiplying

It is Monday morning, the sun is shining bright!  The weather has turned, from freezing to beautiful!  I have been sick for well over a week, but am feeling much better now.  My family went to Big Bear over the weekend, and I stayed home to recoup.  Imagine that!  You know I wasn't feeling well to pass up a visit to The Bear!
I seem to have quite a fondness for these crochet puffed hearts!  They are multiplying like crazy.  Red and pink hearts with every color rose you can think of.  Happy, squishy, fun, sweet, lovely hearts.
I thought a lot about friends as I was making these hearts.  What makes a friend?  I thought of those women in my life who have known me forever.   Some I am lucky enough to see frequently, some only occasionally.  These women in my life know my heart.  I know theirs.
Friends....true friends.  They lift you up.  They share your load when it is heavy, and they keep your secrets safe.
I sat here, in this chair by the picture window, stitching, thinking, looking out the window.  It was one of those perfect kinds of days.  The kind where you open your windows, and breathe the fresh air deeply.
I watched the sheers that frame the window, puff out, like a wind sail, then retreat with a whoosh to the screen, and back out again.
I stitched dozens of hearts.  Thinking about my own.  Thinking about hearts near and dear to me.
I find the rhythm of hook and  yarn to be so soothing.  There is a comfort in the repetition of stitches, that come together to form the finished piece.
I stayed home all weekend, pampering myself, and healing my body from the nasty bug that took hold for over a week.
I had a craving for a homemade cookie yesterday, and made these.
They were devoured by my family that returned from the mountain, hungry, and full of stories to tell.
When I walked through the kitchen for a coffee refill a little while ago, I noticed that there were two left.  I am thinking about scooping them up on my next pass!!  If they are still there, that is!

It is a new day.  A new week.  What are you going to be up to?  I have a very neglected house to clean.  But first, I think I will do this.
Have a great day!
XO  Kris

Kris, this is one of my very favorite posts. Good friends are sentential to a persons well being, I know they are for me. I love my family but friends understand you on a whole different level, and from what I can see you have great friends because you are one. Hope you are regaining your strength.
Hugs to you,
Meredith

The hearts are just gorgeous. They make me smile and I love the words you said about your friendships. So sweet. I am glad you had a nice day with the curtains blowing. I am ready for one of those days. I feel the need to air the house out a bit. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Those cookies look great, and I love the car wash note. :)

Hi Kris, So glad you are feeling better; I know you were weary if you stayed home. I am so thankful to call you friend and know that you are the friend to others that you described. Your hearts are so sweet. I've got a bit of a virus, nothing bad but one that is keeping me low key on the activity scale. I did do some cleaning today but haven't been sewing lately at all.
We are having the same type of weather as you are-I've got windows open too. Wed. we are supposed to get up to the 60's-woohoo. I feel like it is spring. Have a great night.
Hugs, Noreen

So glad to hear you are feeling better. It is a wicked cold going around and seems to linger with people forever. Your hearts are just adorable and the perfect project to work on while sick.

Kris, your words in this post touched my heart. Since I, too, have been making the same hearts this week, many of the same types of thoughts were whirling around my head. However, you wrote them down beautifully in a way I would have never been able to.

Since it's only 12F outside my window right now I don't think I'll be opening my window anytime soon. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy

Glad to see you had a nice quiet weekend at home. So jealous of that open window and a little breeze. We are finally getting some winter weather here. I had my cheeks lasered {rosacea veins} last Friday, so I'm a bit sore. The things we do to stay beautiful. Those hearts are just too darn cute.

These hearts are so sweet. I can do a granny square - but, I don't know how to do much else. I need to learn to crochet! Your friends are blessed to have you!
