Cracked Feet-OUCH!!!

I want to do a little product plugging today.  I have some skin conditions that are a pain in the patoot.  I have  feet that become papery and parchment like, as soon as the weather gets warm, and I am in the gardens, and in, or near water.  I have tried everything!  I mean EVERYTHING, to try to deal with this.  They get so bad that they get deep cracks and bleed. Often times I have them on my toes, my heels, and between toes.  They just plain hurt!  I coat them without fail, every night after showering.  I even put plastic bags over my feet and leave them that way all night long.   But I have never  been able to prevent the painful cracking.   I was in the lotions and potions aisle one day at Walgreens, and I guess I had been in there a long time.  The lady working in the cosmetic department asked me if she could help me.  I told her about my problem, and she said that they carry a product, online only, that she has heard is fabulous.  I took note of the name of it, and went on about purchasing a few more creams and ointments to try.  I kind of forgot about it, when one day, while looking again for products, this time in CVS, I came across the product she told me about!!!  For sale.  In the store!  Whoa!  I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain, so I bought it.
This has SAVED my feet!!!  They were not only painful, but unsightly!  I was embarrassed to wear sandals, and show my bare feet.  They were really, really bad!  I was going to take a before photo, but I just couldn't do it.  Trust me when I tell you, they were awful.  I began to use this product, every, single, night, without fail.  I would spend some time to massage it in.  It isn't greasy, but I would usually put a pair of socks on anyway, and then go straight to bed.  My feel look like real feet again.  There are no cracks!  None!  I just today, bought my second jar.  It costs about 7.00 dollars, and is worth every penny!  CVS is the only place I know of that carries it.  If anyone sees it anywhere else, please let me know!  If  you have trouble with painful cracks on severely dry skin, do try this product.  It is fabulous!
Also, something else I have recently found and really like, are these bleach tablets.  I don't use bleach a lot, but I always keep a container of liquid bleach for my whites, and other household uses.  These tablets are used in the same way, but you just toss a dry tablet into the wash.  No splashing!  Love that!
A couple of years ago, I began to make my own laundry detergent.  It is easy, and makes up a bunch!  You use less, and it is way cheaper than the cost of laundry soap.  However, I had some coupons for those new pods, and I love them too.  I haven't made my laundry soap in a few months.  But a few weeks ago, I was pricing dry detergents, and wondered how good the stuff in the bags were.  They smelled good!  So I bought a big bag.  I like to put my soap in a big clear glass jar that sits on a tray in my laundry room.  I LOVE THIS SOAP!!!!!
We are on septic here too, so I like to  use low sudsing, bio degradable products.  This smells so nice and fresh!  You don't need to use as much as the other powder detergents.  And it does a fabulous job cleaning! LOVE it!
I have been making a lot of these spiral dish scrubbies lately.  The work up quick, and they do a good job.
I make them in tulle too.  Those are my favorite.
It is hot, hot, hot here!  The pool is the place to be.
More soon.
XO  Kris

I have never seen that detergent before I will have to look for it now. My feet do the same thing and the only thing that works for me is Zims Crack Cream. Great reviews.

I'll have to look for the hand cream. Both my hands and feet get cracked and dry. My hands get the worst, especially in the winter. Thank you for recommending it. Enjoy your pool and do a little swimming for me. Take care, Heather

I've bought that in Lowes before. It's been a while but it's worth a look if you're there. It does work well. I love your blog. Thank you for sharing with us.

I'm so glad you found something that helps you. Woohoo! I would be upset if my feet cracked. I just showed Kristi as she has had that problem. But now she uses a lava rock on them now and they're way better. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Kris !!!! Okeefes has a foot cream too. I have the same EXACT problem you do with my feet and I tried everything. I was told about the foot cream and bought it that same day. No cracks, sores or anything for me anymore. I buy it at Target and Walmart for around $6.00. It's in a round blue container the same shape as the hand cream. You've got to try it.
I'm going to look for the bleach tablets . I've never heard of them before.
Blessings,
Betsy

My sister swears by almond oil and vaseline on top as a dry skin treatment (we both suffer from psoriasis which is an even bigger pain in the 'patoot' and I've had to resort to steroid cream from the doc to control mine which has erupted probably due to recent events). Glad you found a wonder treatment for yours. Do you have a recipe for that laundry detergent?Have a great weekend, Kris and thanks so much for stopping by mine. xxx

Wow love the laundry soap idea and I use that same cream for my hands. They are always so dried , they crack and hurts. Fortunately I don't shave that on my fet. I'm so glad you found a good thing that works for you. I'm not sure where I got mine, but I will try to remember.

Love the scrubbie....and O" Keefes makes that in a foot cream too, that is excellent for cracks in the feet. It is very similar to their hand cream. Bed and Bath carries it, as do farm stores:) Hope you post the pattern fro the scrubbie:)

I have certainly had trouble with cracked heels in the past, and I know how frustrating it can be to find a product that actually works. Mine too at times would literally crack and bleed. I have found a cream that works wonderfully and I use it twice a day. Right after my shower in the morning I run a pumice stone over them and then apply the cream and it drys while I am doing my hair and makeup. And then I just rub a little more in before I hop into bed at night. My heels are as smooth and soft as a baby's bottom as long as I stick to this, lol. But! every once in a while the cream is hard to find so I generally stock up when I do find it. I am thinking I am going to buy some of yours too just as a back up as the problem is never ending. I love your little scrubbies by the way. Enjoy your week-end Kris!

I'm so glad to see you doing a product review! I do those posts every now and then and people really seem to love them. I'm going to try all of these things! You poor thang, glad you fixed your feet. I get drier feet in the summer, too, and I always need something on them to help. Looking forward to trying that stuff.

Did you see the Avocado Hummus recipe I posted a while back? You've got to try it, Kris! So good! I know y'all have a lot of avocados to use up there, and I saw you posted a hummus recipe too. Try it!

Thanks for sharing your finds, Kris. I hate it when I splash bleach on clothes I don't want bleached so the tablets could really help. Sooooo glad you found the cracked skin solution!!! I know how it hurts. It is raining and cool here for the first time in several weeks, but I am headed to the pool to swim for an hour with Teresa :). Enjoy swimming in the sun for us please xx

I feel your foot pain as the same thing happens to me and it can be so painful just to walk. I'm looking for that stuff tomorrow. I have been making some cream for my husband to use on his hands that seems to work for him and I'll be blogging about that soon. Stay cool in the pool!

I read about that cream a couple of months ago and haven't been able to find it. We don't have CVS, here so I'll have to look at Lowes or order it online. My hands are horrible this time of year, lot's of cracks on my thumbs and they hurt! My feet usually aren't too bad but I had a silly gardening accident over Memorial Day weekend, I dropped a pair of pruners and they sliced one of my toes pretty good. I was wearing flip-flops. It's taking FOREVER for the scab to fall off so maybe this cream would help with that, too! I'll also have to look for the bleach tabs, thanks for the reviews! Have a great weekend! xo

Those are all great tips Kris. I would love to try the cream for my feet as well. I'll check out the CVS by my house.

I'm interested in the scrubbie, do you have a pattern?

I hope that the cream does really well for your poor feet Kris, mine heels are always cracked and worn away, but I am afraid that I have given up on them. If only they had this product in the UK! xx

I'm another fan of the O'Keefe's foot cream, too! Target carries it. But now I'm wondering if the hand cream is a richer cream; may have to get some and compare.

Hello there Kris,

Sorry I have been a bad blogger this year by not visiting my favourite blogs as much as I would like. I have also been neglecting my own, hopefully I can find more time for the rest of the year to pick up my game!

I have a bit of a problem with my feet over Summer, but not as severe as your condition. I am glad to hear you have finally found a cream to ease the cracking. I use coconut oil on mine and that does the trick. Sometimes I wear closed in shoes for a few days rather than flip flops or thongs as us Aussies call them. I think they may be part of the problem.

I love the look of your scrubbies, I should make some of these for myself :)

Wishing you and yours a great weekend. I am off now to see what else you have been up to on your side of the world.

Stay cool :)

xx
