Spring Is Here!

Hello everyone!  I am sorry to have been so wishy washy with my blogging.  I can't ever remember a time that I have felt so rotten, for so long!  A full week after going to the doctor, I was still miserable!  I tried to get in to be seen on Thursday, but there were no available appointments.  I knew that I could go to Urgent Care and wait to be seen, but I didn't have the energy to drag myself the 12 miles away, and wait.  I had a nurse call me with some over the counter meds that he thought would help me.  And help they did.  By Saturday I was really feeling much better, and more so today.  In fact, I must be better, because Geeps and I went grocery shopping and I spent some time in the kitchen cooking.
The ironing however, is another story.  It is becoming a huge pile.  All of the past two weeks, I would only iron one shirt and pant a day for Greg to wear to work.
Shameful I tell you!  I have never had it stack up like that before.  I haven't cleaned either.  No grocery shopping, no cooking.  Things are pretty much a big mess around here!  But I just didn't have the energy to do anything.
I did knit though.  I made Hannah her Little Red Riding Hood.

Since winter seems to be long gone, she won't be wearing it anytime soon.  I haven't even given it to her yet. I have stayed away from them while I was sick.
I am working on a soft squishy cowl now.  It is done in K2, P2, all the way throughout.  I am using super bulky yarn.
Something else that won't be worn for some time yet.
I am learning to make socks too.  I had a friend show me how to use DPN's and I did a pair of tube socks with no heel.  Perfect for wearing around the house.  But I wanted to learn how to make a proper pair of socks.  VeryPinkKnits.com has a wonderful series of Youtube tutorials that takes you through it, one step at a time.  I followed these, but had not purchased her pattern.  So considering I had no pattern to work from, just the tutorials, and some guessing, I was pleased with the outcome.
I have learned so much in the few short weeks that I have been working at my knitting!  The Youtube videos are so helpful!
The weather has been a sizzling 90+ degrees for the past few days.  I went ahead and put some Spring things on the porch.
I freshened up my Spring baskets for the front door with some new flowers.   We seldom use the front door to come and go, but every time I see it, it makes me happy.  Dolly Mouse has her bunny ears on, and is carrying her Easter basket.  I have some giant eggs nestled in the front planter, with some leaping bunnies right behind them.
The giant sycamores in the front yard have begun to leaf out.  The color is so pretty.
Last week my husband was rear ended on the freeway on his way home.  He had a rental car for a few days, and he needed me to drop the second set of keys off for him on Friday morning. I was right by one of my favorite  haunts, so I ran inside real quick for a look see.
I had this very same set of sunny yellow flowered dishes when we got married 35 years ago.  I had to snatch them up.  I have no idea whatever happened to the ones I had?  This was only a set of 3, but I will find more in my searching.
I also got this cute little bowl with cherries on it.
I also go this nifty wooden lap desk that is partially seen here in the photo.  While I was cleaning it off, I somehow allowed the wire stand that holds the table at a tilt for reading, to slam closed on my thumb.  It hurt so bad I wanted to cry!
Doesn't look bad, but boy did it hurt!
I got my Spring boxes down from the rafters, but didn't have the pep to put my things all out.  I only brought a couple of things into the house.  One was this carrot  runner I quilted several years ago.  It was a quilt as you go pattern.  Very simple, and cute.
Nothing too exciting going on around here. Just trying to take it easy so I can get myself back to normal.  I am chomping at the bit to put my garden in.  I haven't done a thing in preparation  yet.  Hopefully I will be up to it next weekend.
Greg has come down with what I had now.  We have been sick since January!  As much as I hated the fact that we didn't get much of a winter, I have to admit, I am happy to see the longer days, and the weather nice enough to be outside so much.  I am solar powered, after all.  However, that being said, I am not really ready for 90+ just yet.  I wish it could stay around 80!
I am trying to keep up with all of you out there!
Be sweet!
XO  Kris

Glad you're feeling better! Are those cherry bowls "Cherries Jubilee" from Sonoma? I have the opposite ones...red bowls with a white stripe and white cherries!

You and Greg have been sick for too long. I'm glad you're better but sorry he has the "crud" now.

You did get some good finds though. I especially like the little bowl. 90 degrees? Wow! We've had rain all weekend and we really need it since we had virtually no snow all winter. Unheard of for Spokane.

Take it easy and feel better.

Blessings,
Betsy

Hi Kris, sorry you've been under the weather. I hope you are feeling like yourself real soon. We finally had a bit warmer weather in OH, and it was great to get outside and do a little tidying in the yard. Take care! Heather

Sorry to hear you had such a LONG bout of not feeling good, but glad your finally doing better now. It does seem as if the bugs going around this year are particularly nasty. I know many who have been sick forever it seems. I have had my back take me almost quickly out of it. I may have to go see the doc this week too...sigh. Yes, we certainly have had some HOT weather, and NO I am not ready for that either. Continue to take it easy this week....none of the work will go anywhere...and soon you will be your usual busy, busy self with your garden and all. Have a good week!

Glad you are feeling better...ugh, that stuff is nasty. I love the statement...I am solar powered...perfect..me too.

I can't believe it is in the 90's there...wow, you will be having some hot kind of summer at that rate!

Don't try and do too much or you will relapse...one day at a time.

I got hit with the flu two weeks ago - fever, headache, and exhaustion. I seriously had NO energy to do anything. I am glad to hear you are on the mend! The red riding hat is adorable!

Mercy! Sickness, a smashed thumb, a scrunched car, and 90+ degree weather are daunting. I'm glad that you are making better progress in feeling well, and I hope Greg will be well soon, too!! It is good to see your Spring decor springing up around you and to see your great progress in learning to knit. You inspire me, Kris :-) xx

Kris, so glad you are finally feeling better, it's sure been a rough ride for you. Hope Greg's doesn't hang on as long! Glad he wasn't injured in the car accident, too!
Love the red hood and the cowl, it's gorgeous! One of my favorite colors!
You found some great goodies, those dishes look SO familiar, I'll have to see if I can find any for you, up here. I'm thinking my mom may have had the same pattern.
Love all of your spring touches, in the yard. We hit 81°, yesterday, I hope spring is here for a while! I know we will probably see more snow but I'll take these temps. as long as I can!
Take your time and get well, your chores will wait! xoxo

Kris, I'm so sorry that you have been sick, such a long time too. Our weather has been in the 70's and 80's, but today is in the 30's and cold, foggy and rainy. I'm ready for warm spring weather to stay. Hopefully, you'll be totally over that crud and it will stay away for years. I read your previous posts and it seems that there has been a lot going on at your place. Enjoy the warm day and don't overdue-you don't want a relapse.
Hugs,
Noreen

It certainly is. I hope that you overcome your current aches, and that you embrace the whole spring season with open arms. I'm sorry to hear what happened to your husband, though. You should really look into those who have caused it and the factors, which have led to that horrible incident. In any way, I hope that both and your husband are faring better. Thanks for sharing that! All the best!

Oh you poor thing, I feel so bad that you have been so ill. And now poor Greg, I am sending you both positive healing thoughts. Good thing knitting does not require a lot of energy and looks like you got a lot done. Love your socks and you are learning so much!
Take care of yourself, don't do to much.

I'm glad you are feeling better, Kris! I know how you feel--I had the flu at Christmas and since then I have been getting one thing after another. I think it is being around the grandkids and all the kiddie placers we bring them to,that exposes me to a lot of germs, etc. This week I had a stomach virus that came with terrible body aches--ugh! Happily I feel a little better today. I'm also looking forward to decorating for Spring and Easter! Love your carrot placemats!

I must say that you have such a lovely home. I admire all your crafts and am impressed by their quality workmanship. I can also, sadly, relate to feeling sick and tired. When that happens to me, I refresh clothing by misting it with water and throwing it in the dryer. It works just as well as ironing.
