I'm Still Here!

Good morning!  I am still here.  I am reading blogs here and there.  But I know I am missing a lot of what is going on with all of you too.  I hope to be back in the saddle for real, after the holidays.
Here is a little bit of what I have been doing.  Mostly sewing.  Lots of sewing.  I made this cell phone and key holder for Chick Fil A, at the request of my son's girlfriend Christine, who is the events coordinator for Corona Chick Fil A.
This was hung in their break room.  The employees cannot carry their cell phones, so they go inside one of these pockets, and it is hung up next to a power strip so that they can charge them at the same time.  I also made a couple rows of smaller pockets to hold keys.  Mainly for the guys, who don't carry purses.  I made embroidered tags to identify the spaces.  I made it out of a black duck canvas.  It was a very fun project for me to do.  The bonus being I got paid in Chick Fil A money!!!  I will be eating there for a long time!
My nephew Don and his wife Kaylen, are expecting their first baby soon.  I have been working on her gifts for awhile.  It was such fun to make these baby items for them.
Here is a shot of the sofa in my sewing room, where I began to stack the finished items.
I made several receiving blankets, about a dozen flannel burp cloths, lots of bibs, baby washcloths, and my favorite, being this terry and flannel hooded bath towel set.  I called the Spa Set.

I also made a darling little pair of matching Spa Slippers.  I didn't have a pattern, so I drew a mock up, based on other patterns I saw online, and just made a few pairs, til I got the newborn size I wanted, and then modified it so that it could made in other sizes as well.
I did a couple of other pairs of the baby slippers too.  The pink pair is a bit bigger to grow into.
And since she is due on December 05, I thought she needed a Christmas pair!
I found a cute grey and white stripe basket to match her baby room colors, and stacked it all up in the basket, snapping the bibs on the handles.
This was a pure joy for me to make and put together for them!
For Halloween, I made little zippered bags for my grandkids, and then filled them with goodies.
The two in front are pencil pouch size, for the girls . Noah's is made out of Skylander fabric, and is a little bigger so he can put some of his Skylander toys inside.
And now, I am heavy into holiday sewing and knitting!!!  I have been on a hat making kick.  I am knitting them, and improving my knitting skills and speed!
The most popular being the slouchy style beanies, as seen on the styrofoam head model.  I made a really cute grey chunky one, that Erika swooped in on.  And a cozy creme tweed one that Greg snatched up.  I also made each of my two granddaughter's a matching hat and cowl for their recent birthdays.  I didn't have my camera, just my cell phone.  Those pictures are on my IG feed.  They turned out really cute!
That's it for now.  This computer is SO hard to work on.  If Santa doesn't bring me a new laptop for Christmas, my blogging will suffer, for sure!
Hope all of you are doing okay!!!!

I just said to Teresa yesterday how I missed your posts, Kris! I have not gotten into IG enough to figure out how to keep track when others post, but I will try to go see your latest :) I am hoping that your creative energy is contagious and that I catch it! Thanks for wrestling with your computer to post, and I hope that Santa brings you a new one for Christmas, too! We are getting more glorious rain here today. I have been stitching various projects, the last being a hand stitched cloth heart based on a pattern from Helen Phillip's latest book. I had to consult YouTube to remember how to do the blanket stitch which I added to the basic pattern. I like the look of the blanket stitch and making it but have never used it on making a blanket yet :) I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration! xx

I can't do IG because of my computer/phone issues and I do understand about IT complaints. My connection is sooo slow sometimes I feel like I'm back in the phone modem days. be that as it may, the baby items are adorable and I'm sure the new little will be so cozy in those slippers. Lucky ducky.

It's so good to see you here Kris! You have sure been busy at the sewing machine. I love all of the little things that you made for the new baby and your family, but I think my favorite are the slippers. That storage pouch for Chick-fil-A is really cute. What a great idea and how handy. I sure hope you get a new computer too, that way maybe we can hear from you more often. :-) You are missed and I think about you often. I'm busy knitting mittens right now for the schoolchildren. We had a doozy of a storm a couple of days ago and well over half of Spokane is still without power. We're one of the lucky houses that has our electricity. We were without it for 18 1/2 hours and in this cold weather that was plenty long enough. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.
Blessings, Betsy

So nice to get caught up with you Kris, I am writing to Santa for you because I want you to still be in the blogging world even though I think Instagram is taking over. I am still here, although very busy. You have made some fantastic things as usual! I hope you have a wonderful Holiday with your family,

How I love to read a blog featuring a lady after my heart! Goodness I am right there with you on the joys of sewing and creating, and understand just how you felt putting that basket of goodies together for your niece. I never did learn to knit however so I don't know that particular skill or fun, but I am loving those hats. If I don't get another chance I do want to wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving! Love to you!

I'm so glad to see one of my beloved friends pop in to say hello to us! I'm so impressed with all the things you've been making! I hope you do get a Macbook laptop.. you'd just love it. It's so easy to blog on. I also love the little booties.. they are just adorable. I'm knitting a scarf but it's teeny tiny thin yarn and will take a zillion years to finish. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

It's great to visit your blog again and read such a cheery & fun post. You have kept those hands very busy! And making such wonderful stuff! You are so talented.
I'm back with a new blog (again, I know) and this time I hope to hang around. Things weren't working out for me previously so I didn't continue long.
I'm a few days behind again in reading my blog list but hope to find time to get caught up. So many things all at once keeping me occupied.

SO nice to see your post! Those baby gifts are adorable! She'll have the cutest accessories in town! The hats you're making are very nice! Sweet D is still wearing the ear-warmer you made for her! I don't know if I can access IG since I don't have a smart phone, I don't understand all this high tech stuff! :) I'll have to see if Shelby can help me! Glad you are doing well and I hope Santa brings you a new laptop!!
Love ya!

Boy you sure have been busy. How fun to create for a little one. My daughter is expecting a little girl on Christmas day...first girl in the family in 25 years...we are over the top happy.

You are getting so proficient with knitting...great job.

You are a very talented seamstress! What beautiful baby items! Your joy exudes in your words. That's a neat idea for chic fil a's phones and keys. Good job! I need to cut out and sew a robe for my husband for Christmas. Just got the fabric yesterday but it shouldn't take long. And now our daughter just got engaged and she wants me to make her dress! She's not traditional at all. The dresses she likes shouldn't be too difficult to make. 😳
