Big Bear Vacation

I didn't take too many photos when we went to Big Bear in early July.  But I wanted to post the few I have, for the sake of preservation.  We had a good week. It was hotter than usual there.  And the water levels are way, way down.  So sad.  But we had a good time.
We had different family members come up each of the days we were there, except for Thursday..  We arrived on Saturday, and set up camp.  We had a good spot.  A great spot.  It is usually water front property.  But not this year!

Sitting under the awning and looking out at this peaceful view was lovely.  Water, or no water.  You can see the dry docks to the left of the above photo.
It was kind of sad to see the marina so low.  So many of the docks have had to be pulled out to deeper parts of the lake.  And walking down to the boat, seeing so much mud and shallow water is really awful.  I sure do hope we have some good rain and snow this winter!!!

This dock is where we keep our boat.  It's about half way down the dock.
We usually spend the whole day out on the boat.  We pack up lunches and snacks, and load a cooler, and off we go.  Noah is a good Captain.
I don't know who that guy in the blue thingie is???
We got a Stand Up Paddle Board just before we left for the lake.  Everyone had a really good time riding around on that.

Even me, who was too afraid to fall into that cold lake, so I sat down to paddle.
The Paddle Board is a huge hit!!!
The kids had fun playing on the boat, and on the water.
And they fished a little too.
But the fishing was S L O W!!!!!
I always enjoy watching the kids interact and have fun together!

Unfortunately, Noah came down with a high fever on Wednesday night, and his Mom had to come and pick him up that next day.  We felt so bad for him.
Luckily, we had already gotten in the movies, mini golf, Alpine slides, and ice cream in The Village.
It was a good week, but as always, I am ready to come, usually a day before our planned vacation ends.  I don't know why, but I always get homesick.  I am a homebody.  It is just who I am.
We keep the boat up there in a slip all summer, so we go up nearly every weekend for some fishing and bobbing on the lake.
See you soon Big Bear.
XO  Kris

Looks like a fun adventure on the lake. Sorry to hear your grandson got sick, I hope he is feeling better now. Won't be long and summer will be coming to an end. I miss reading about your chickens and your beautiful garden. Hope you are doing well. Take care, Heather

Me too! If we go away for a week by about day 5 I think "OK, I'm good now. I want my own bed."

It looks like a great time was had by all...except Noah at the end. I hope he's much better now. The stand up boards are really popular up here on our lake too. We saw them in Hawaii for several years before they became popular here. Kids especially love them. The pictures of the water, and no water make me sad. You can even see where the water level used to be on the rocks. I don't know what it is. I'm enjoying the lake this year, but after a couple of days, I'm ready to come home for a few days. Maybe I'm getting old. I love it there but always enjoy being home. Maybe it's because I can watch podcasts at home!!! HA!
Have a great day my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

Kris, it looks like you all had a wonderful time. I also hope that the rains fill your lake up again. That's neat that everyone gave a try at the paddle board, you're brave! I've looked at getting one for our family but the darn things are so expensive! We leave for our lake camping trip next week. I got a floating chair like Betsy's! LOL! I hope Noah is better. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Looks and sounds like a wonderful time! It's sad though to hear how low the water is up there. I guess I thought we had a little more rain and snow then usual this year, but probably not as much as I thought. The paddle boat looks fun. My youngest sons family have friends that have one and they are on it every chance they get. They all love it. Sorry Noah got sick and hope he's back to his old self by now. Summer is sure flying by. Love watching all the socks you've been busy creating. I have not done much sewing this week, and I've kind of enjoyed the break. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Great pictures! Our summer is quickly coming to an end my younger two start Tuesday and my older one starts the following week.
Also I wanted to let you know for some reason I can't respond when you leave a message on my blog. You asked a while where our cabin was..,it's in Lake Tahoe and you asked about our vacation. I went to Hawaii with Juliana and my parents and my older two went to Italy with my husband and his parents. :)
Hope you are having a great week!

Your pictures are awesome...you must be using your regular camera and not your cell phone? Big Bear is such a pretty place....the pine trees look different from ours out here. My husband is a lot like you....by the last day of vacation he is ready to get home and he has us all packed up and ready to leave bright and early...I feel like we always get jipped on the last day! Paddle boarding looks so fun...it's on my list of things I want to try. I hope Noah is all better by now...it's never fun to be sick on vacation.

Glad you are getting out camping, sorry the lake is so low but it looks like it didn't cut into your fun time. Those paddle boards are a lot of fun. I got to kayak again this last weekend camping with the girls. I love it.....got a sunburn though! Getting back home is always a treat too. Glad you are having a good summer. Those grands are just so cute!

Hi there, Sounds like you all had a good time, except for Noah. Last weekend my girls & families went camping and took the boat-it was so much fun. I had forgotten how much hubby and I love the water and being in boats. I thought about you while we were on the lake. If I had an RV, I'd have been there but will no longer sleep on the ground-even with an air mattress-just too uncomfortable. Sending you big hugs and lots of love Kris!
