It May Sound "Corny"

But I am a farmer! When we planted this garden we had no idea what would come of it. Much to our surprise and pleasure, we have harvested oodles of corn, yummy maters, tons of basil, quite a lot of zucchini despite one very wiley gopher, lots of jalapeno peppers, sweet strawberries, green onions, radishes, some very promising watermelons in the works, and some pretty sunflowers, just because. We have learned how to start and keep a compost bin going for better soil. Found out about crop rotation, and a lot about what works and what doesn't in our So. Cal heat. All in all, it has been a very enjoyable experience, and we will certainly be planting again next spring.
I think it was on Wives With Knives blog that I saw a wonderful looking spread for roasted corn, made with cilantro butter that I aim to do tomorrow.
Happy Farming!

I am so envious! I really want to be a gardener. Your corn looks scrumptious.

Nice work! Corn is hard to grow. We've tried it like 4 times and only had a good corn crop once. And I love corn with cilantro. I bet that spread is delish!

I guess the corn got as high as an elephants eye... For your second batch of corn use your basil that you grew and make basil butter. Also very yummy. You have inspired me to plant a garden next year. Kevin and I have the perfect spot all picked out. I will call you in a bit.

Kris,
I love reading about your garden. You sound just like Mary, Mary Quite Contrary (sp) You are a farmer girl. It so cool to see that you have grown these items with your sweat and hard work.
Love,
Anita

My Mom wants to do a garden now and I think all of us are on board after seeing all of your yummy crops! It must be so nice to pick half of your dinner out of your backyard.

Wow - you have your own farmer's market going there! That is wonderful.

I have never heard of that kind of cheese you used on the corn. is there another cheese similar that might work?
