Counting My Blessings

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Tomorrow we will go to our daughter Gennifer's house to celebrate with our family.  I am looking forward to a relaxing day, and boy am I glad we decided to let "Polly" of Polly's Pies do all the cooking.  It has been a hectic, and flu filled month around here.  I have never been busier, and sure don't feel like spending a day cooking.  For me, tomorrow is a little bittersweet.  We have always celebrated this holiday with my entire family, usually at my Mom's house.  But with my own growing family, it is hard for the kids to schedule the babies naps and all, and then try to take everyone to another city.  So, it seems we have been keeping our holiday celebrations closer to home.  My heart will be in Yorba Linda with Mom and Nana and the rest of my family too.
Topping the list of what I am thankful for is my family!  I am so blessed to have our kids all live right here in the same city as us, and we get to be an every day part of our grand kids lives.  This is what I have always dreamed of.  Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for this.   I hope all of you enjoys a Thanksgiving with all the trimmings, and the people you love to share it with.

I do know just what you mean. A few years ago now (once my kids starting having their own) we branched off from my mom and sisters too. There are just WAY too many of us. Now that Mel is married and moved away the plan is to have Thanksgiving with her one year and all the boys go to their in-laws. Then the next year everyone comes to my house. But this year my oldest son had an exception as his wife's sister is here from Alaska so they are going to her mom's. I decided to add to my "feel" and invited a couple of my sisters and their families and my mom. Makes for a REALLY large crowd. And while I have enjoyed this I'd say there is a really good chance this is it. I'm getting too old for this kind of a pack, haha. Just so much work. Your day sounds wonderful to tell you the truth. You are really blessed Kris to have your family right there...I hate my daughter living soo far from me. My boys struggle with it too. And she does too of couse. But her husband and she arrived on Tues afternoon and I haven't seen Mike in a year, and so therefore them together in a year. I wondered if their relationship would have changed at all, you know, the "newlywed" feel, haha. But I am happy to find that they are as tied at the hip as ever, haha. Soo in love. It is nice to see, and obviously she is happy which is the most important thing. It is one thing I didn't consider with her moving away is "seeing" them together. I like to observe that with all of my kids just to see for myself that they are happy in their relationships. Well, I have no idea why I have written you such a novel, haha. I think sometimes I can just relate to how you think and feel like I have gotten to know you through your blog. ENJOY your day Kris, back to Jenny Craig for me tomorrow, today I intend to eat!
