This is my desk, where I keep all of my quilting books, and crochet and knitting books. As well, as lots of family photos and little trinkets that were given to me. We bought that desk for our middle daughter Erika when we moved here and she was 12. Lucky for me, she didn't want it when she moved out. See that tall shutter leaning to the left of the desk? I dumpster dove for that, and I use it to pin patterns to. I had two of them, but the other one was in worse shape, and I tossed it.
Here is a closer look.
And here is the farm table. Fit perfectly!
I have both my heavy duty Viking, and my little antique Feather Weight out. I use both equally. I do all of my piecing on the Feather Weight. It belonged to my Dad's sister, and when she gave it to me, many years ago, I didn't even quilt yet. I tucked it away, and when I began to quilt I realized how collectible and treasured these gems were. I got it out, had it serviced, and it has been going strong ever since!!!
Here is another kitchen piece in here that works quite well. This was our rolling butcher block island for a long time. It is the exact height for cutting that is needed, and now it will serve as my cutting table. It also has a huge deep drawer for "stuff" that I have chock full!
This is a cozy corner for reading and blogging, and knitting and crocheting. I have had that wing chair for almost 20 years, but I bought the cute little cream colored foot stool a year or so ago. It has storage inside too. A very comfy spot!
I have had this wicker dress form for many years, and a couple years ago I decided to open up the box that contained my wedding dress for all of these years, and display it. Oh how I love this! I get to enjoy it every day. And we even used it as a centerpiece for a bridal shower that my daughter held here for her best friend a couple of years ago. It is prettier when I don't have it draped with my most recent yarny things. This is the cowl I finished the other day, and a green twirly scarf layered over it.
I removed the closet doors and wall papered the inside of the closet. I had our friend Tommy G. put an electrical outlet in there, and I put a bookcase inside to hold my stash, or at least some of it. I keep a lamp in there to help search for things.
I have this room painted in pink and green, and it is the only feminine room in my house. Very girly. To keep the boys OUT!! You can't tell from any of these photos, but this room opens out onto our backyard, with pool and orange grove beyond. It is very pretty and peaceful to be in here, and look outside to the yard. I love this room. It was our oldest daughter, Gennifer's bedroom growing up. I think she loved this room too.So this is it. My little happy place. Thanks for joining me. Ducks must have just done something good. Mr. G is rooting loud and happily!
That's Ducey, the Sweetie Wheatie. He doesn't like it when Mr. G roots too loudly, so he is in here with me.
Oh, and that little black sewing machine there behind the sign, that was my Grandma's when she was a little girl. Nana even learned to sew on it. I have the original instruction booklet and everything. Nana is 96 years young, so this has been around for awhile.
G'night friends.
PS UH OH...Ducks lost to fluke play by Auburn in end of game. Mr. G is TICKED. I am so sorry Timmy Rush!!!

That is fantastic. I can see many creations happening here.
Wow, Kris! This is such a wonderful craft/sewing/blogging haven! You are so lucky to have a room all your own. Enjoy it!
Sorry about the Ducks...as we say in Brooklyn "Wait till next year!"
LOVE it!!!! I'm envious of your new table. What a perfect place for it. I also have been looking for a dress form for my sewing room. I'll let you know when I find one.
You really have that room fixed up so nice. You know how men usually turn their garages into their man cave? Well my old bedroom has become your Mom cave. I love it. Such a nice place to craft and create. And yes I did really love that room too. I think it is the most peaceful one in the house, (and has the best view), and best to sneak out from if necessary. I'm just sayin'. :)
Love your new table. And I just decided I want a dress form. Where can I get one?
Oh yes, and I am ready for my first lesson when you are!!
It's perfect!!!! Love it!
It's a beautiful room Kris - I love the white floral armchair - it's gorgeous!
Glad it fits!
P.s. I want one of those scarfs pllllzzzz
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of your room. What a wonder place! Your right, table fit perfectly.. = )
Hi There...I just found your blog and so enjoyed the post about your sewing room. I'll visit again soon.
Amy
What a lovely sewing room! I'm a new visitor via Hoosier at Heart, and I am excited to explore your blog more. I'm in the process of redoing my sewing room. Thus far I've done the first major clean and purge, with some reupholstering, painting, and finding a new window treatment, as the blinds that I once used broke in my hand last night! Oops!
What a great room! Pretty and cozy and inviting and warm and cheery and inspirational and nostalgic and now I'm out of adjectives :)
Yep Ducks lost by a field goal!! Such a bummer, Tim was more than upset. I'm not going to lie, I am pretty bummed myself!!
I love your room, it's so pretty and the perfect place to work. I'm sure you get inspired every time you walk in to sew something pretty! Can't wait to see what all you add to your etsy shop!
Love the farm table...Looks so cozy but organized.
p.s.....I am a nurse
I loved seeing "your" room! I love it.
What a great room...I love it! I only wish I had my own room to sew in, although I have taken over the boys room we share. I love the big table...Don put 2 doors together for me in an L shape to get a big work surface...I quickly have taken over the whole thing!
That's it... I'm heading over. I'll bring the tea and crumpets. We just need to hang out in the room. Sooooooooooo, jealous. That table could not be more perfect. Don't you just love when you "See it" and just know.
Sweet find.
thanks for the tour, what a perfect space.
Lucky you! I dream of having a room like this. I did recently make a little corner for myself in the family room. It will have to do for now. So happy to see you at Tangled Happy today. I love those little puff stitch flowers as well! Happy New Year.
Hi Kris, Loved seeing your sewing room-what a wonderful table and space to create. Love the vintage machines as well. Lately I've been watching those games, due to the yucky cold, so haven't been in my quilting room much but need to soon.
Hugs to you today. I'm sure I've asked but how does Ducey do with your grands? Thanks for sharing your nest with us.
Hugs, Noreen
What a beautiful and fun sewing room. I wish I knew how to sew,
but I don't! *blush*

Thanks for the tour Kris. Very nice. Love the chair!! I'd be sitting my butt in that quite a lot. :-)
That scarf is to die for too. Love it and boy could I use it here.
I love your craft room. That is the perfect place to get lots of crafty stuff done. I love the really old little sewing machine. I always love all the sentimental value the things in your house hold. I really love it :)
Ok, I'll take the room and the doggie. I would live in that room if it were mine.
Oh that table was such a great find! Nice that it fits perfectly into your Sewing Land ;) What is the yarn project that your working on in the first picture in a basket on the ottoman?? Those colors are quite pretty!

Isn't it wonderful to have a space all your own!!! After many years of sewing on the dining room table I now have a workroom where I can spread projects out and leave them out. Love your room, Kris. Yours is so much prettier than mine.
I envy your new table - I'm looking for one just like that for my dining room - wish me luck!
Great tour...I have always loved that room. I see many fun and pretty creations coming from that room!!
To answer one of your questions. Sean's friend from college and baseball, Daniel, was inducted into the Army on Tuesday. My prayers and thanks for serving go with him.
How lucky are you - what a special place to call your own. I love the farm table!
Perfect table. I love your sewing room. It is perfect.
What a lovely creative space you have Kris and the table belongs there. Having a view of the garden must be heaven. Thanks for sharing.
Your sewing room is so beautiful! How lovely to have a "room of your own." I think it's wonderful that you display your wedding dress--why keep it in a box, right? Perfect.
Wow, now I really want to start my studio re-do. *must wait for spring*
