Mother's Day

Good morning friends.  I hope all of the Mom's had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I certainly did!  My day began with my daughter Erika and grandson Noah arriving to fix a fabulous brunch!
She made eggs with spinach and veggies.  Bacon, mixed berries, biscuits, fresh squeezed juice, and a bottle of champagne for mimosas.
Yep, my husband wears overalls!  He loves his overalls!!!  If he could, he would wear them every day.  But  he only wears them to work in the grove. Our kids give him grief for it every time!!!  When we moved here to this house, 18 years ago, my parents got us a housewarming gift for the new farmers, that consisted of a pair of overalls for each of us, an avocado picker on an extension pole, an orange picking bag like the ones they really wear to pick a grove, with a padded strap, and hooks at the bottom to release your fruit into the waiting wagons below, and I think maybe a pitchfork too.  We use it ALL!  It was such a great gift!
After our wonderful brunch, Eri and Noah and Drew left to play at the park and I got busy preparing for our dinner and my family to come, and Greg got busy in the grove to finish spraying the north forty.
I was crossing my fingers for good weather.  We had been having such nice sunny days, and I was counting on being able to eat outside.  I had all of our tables set up out back with flowers, etc, but as the day wore on, it got increasingly cold and windy.  So at the last minute, we switched gears and had to eat indoors.  I have no dining room in this house.  Just my kitchen table, and it doesn't seat 20!!  So they were scattered all over to eat our meal of grilled burgers and dogs.
That photo above is the only one I got of my Mama.  I was busy all day and didn't but a few photos.  That is my brother David sitting with my darling grand girls.  He has his mouth full, sorry David.

I felt very special, all day.  My children and husband, all showered me with gifts.  Greg got me a 100 dollar gift certificate to my Happy Place.  No, not Disneyland!  Glen Ivy!!  Genny and Jake got me that darling straw beach tote, and it was filled with fun stuff.  Magazines, and framed photos of the kids, and one of Genny and I from my birthday recently.  When they arrived, they brought me and my Mom and Nana all pretty fresh flowers.  Erika and Noah got me a yummy candle, and some fun new jewelry.  All that, AND she came to fix brunch, and brought flowers too!!  And Drew got me this pretty wrought iron wall clock!
I had beautiful flowers everywhere.

After dinner, Jake and Greg busted out one of their mini kegs from their home brew.
I didn't have any, but I heard it was good.  Mild with a low alcohol content, so I probably would have liked it.  I am a lightweight...when it comes to alcohol!  (Oh, and am down another pound at Weight Watchers too)
I was so busy, so I missed out on taking pictures of a lot of fun. The kids braved the cold, and enjoyed chasing chickens,  playing ball, and running around in the grove.  Little Hannah took a tumble and skinned up her knee and elbow, but a pink frosted cookie made it feel better.  After everyone left, I went out back to sit by the fire for a bit with Greg and Drew and Erika and Noah.

Yes I have green crocs on!  I keep a pair of crocs outside each door to slip into when I head out to the yards.  The perfect garden shoe!!!  I will never give up my crocs!!   Oh my, what a nice day, and what a perfect ending to a perfectly perfect Mother's Day!!!  To me, Mother's Day isn't about being pampered, but about being with those special loved one's in your life that make BEING a mother meaningful.  My wonderful Mom, my sweet Nana, my kids, that have made the last 30 years of being a Mom so rewarding, and my husband who shares it all with me.  I hope all of my friends had a special Mother's Day as well.

Good A.M. Kris-

Yes, it appears my whole yahoo contact list was stolen over night. No, I am not in Spain kidnapped. I hope you ignored that email and just deleted. At least my blog is on a gmail account.

Try to send me an email so I can add you back into my new clean files.

Sure wish I could be enjoying my day, like you are here in this posting. Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend.

Hi! Such a lovely day for you and your family. Love the aqua chair, can't wait to see what you're doin' with the mailbox. Don't ya hate bathing suit shopping? Wish I looked good enough to wear my old ones. I should really get rid of them. So glad that "Super Snacker" is doing so much better, yeah!

It looks like you had a wonderful day, Kris. Being with family is what it's all about. Are those avocados from your back yard by any chance? If they are, lucky you.
