Mid Week Musings

Good morning!  I woke up at 6:00 A.M. and it was only 40 degrees!  Brrrr.   I am sitting here thinking about all of the things that we have going on in the next few weeks, and it is crazy!   I take care of my 4 year old grandson while my daughter works, but today he is with his Daddy.  I am going in to see my other daughter, Gennifer in a bit so that she can make me pretty with a new hair do.  And since I have a free day, I am sort of entertaining the idea of going to see The Iron Lady.  I just love Meryl Streep.  I have a friend who looks like Meryl.  Viki is her name.  Hi Vik!
Last night I made one of our winter favorites, Beef Barely Soup.  I didn't blog it, but you can find that post here. http://cakesbykristin.blogspot.com/2009/11/beef-barley-soup.html  I also made a loaf of homemade English Muffin bread in my bread machine.  And you can find that recipe and post here. http://cakesbykristin.blogspot.com/2010/12/english-muffin-bread.html
This morning, I enjoyed the English Muffin bread toasted, with some of my favorite yogurt and homemade granola on top.
This is our favorite bread recipe of all time!
Tonight we are meeting my Mom and brothers and sisters in laws, nephews and girlfriends, and all family who wants to attend, at what we call "Bar Night."   This is something we do periodically, where we pick a restaurant and all meet up in the bar, for a casual night of appetizers and visiting.  We have a rather large family, and this is a fun and easy way to gather and allows us to get up and move around and visitate (made up word I stole from my neighbor Gary) with everyone.  I think we may also get to go see my nephew Joe's new condo afterwards.
Off I go to get ready for my day.  I hope to also get in and purchase my paint for the guest bedroom.  And if I can squeeze it in, get that room painted this weekend.
Happy Hump Day!!
XO  Kris

Your soup sounds delicious. It's supposed to rain this weekend so that might be the perfect recipe for it! Seems everyone is posting food these days. I love the "Bar Night" idea. Have a great time!

I love beef barley soup. I eat it at a steakhouse near us, and it's so good. I will check out your recipe, since I've never made it myself.

Love Meryl Streep too. She is one of my all time favorites. She is so great.

Hi Kris, I love the idea of 'bar night'. How fun to hook up and chat with family. Meryl Streep is one of my favorite actresses. I think that she is so talented. Pretty cute for an old gal too. Good luck with the bedroom. Hubby and I are going to attempt a bit of bead board. I was hoping to start this weekend, but it didn't happen. Entertaining two of our granddaughters. One is 11 and one 13. They both had birthdays on the 17th. Took them to dinner and a sleep over for celebration.
